edit: ES2 (slower and less range) is $199 on their site as well and would be alright for a short commute or a kids scooter but the G30 for $385 is great value. Not sure if we will see better deals from another retailer but I bit here.

Did I get screwed on getting older one or is there still benefit of having a 6 serial instead of 9 serial
Also they delivered without sending shipment confirmation or signature.
Luckily I was home when the fedex guy showed up

Segway app says 0 miles but I presume thats been reset.
Using the Darknessbot app, I can view the battery's info which shows 30 charge cycles, 100 charge count and a build date of 01.01.2016. With those numbers, this scooter could have over a 1000 miles on it.
Aye aye aye. Did Segways return policy say it cannot be returned once opened? I'm not even sure I want to ride it yet just in case I still have a chance to return it.
Edit: The battery build date doesn't make sense if the 2nd gen motor G30 came out in 2020 and the G30 itself came out in 2019. Nevertheless, 30 cycles and 100 charge counts kind of suck. If I'm reading the fine print correctly, looks like the return shipping would be my responsibility so I guess I'll be keeping it. The firmware is also v1.7.13 so I don't think I'll be able to install the higher speed firmware.
Well, I'll just have to hope for the best and enjoy my first e-scooter.
Edit: it arrived during the day. They delivered it straight to my door inside my complex. It's 2nd gen, tires look new. The display looks scuffed, but other than that, looks great!

Segway return policy seems like it can't be returned or they'll give you a hard time

What's the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 on these G30P? And how do I find out?

As for the motor, look for the serial number on the motor wheel(rear) and if it starts with a 6, it's first Gen and if it starts with a 9, it's second gen. I think there's a third gen but I don't know what that starts with.
From what I've read, the first gen has more torque at lower speeds but can't to go past the 18.6mph(?) or so top speed. The second gen has less torque but can go faster then 18.6mph(?) if the faster aftermarket firmware is installed. But since many of the second gen scooters come with the updated v1.17, or newer firmware, it can no longer be updated easily with aftermarket firmwares. Segway updated the FM so third party apps can no longer replace the firmware, etc.
I'm no expert on this but this is what I've come to understand with the googling I've done this past week.
