Sound quality at this price point is 11/10. Headband durability is -1/10. I have no idea what the best option is for a headband repair or replacement, but you should plan to need it within a year.

Although it does have a better sound stage, i'll say the sound quality is overall just a tad below the Sennheiser 6xx. But for $69, this is a fantastic price and a no brainer buy. Just keep in mind that the the build quality was terrible. My headband snapped and one of the ear cup fell off after 1.5 year of light usage and the replacement band cost $100...

PS: you will need a dac and amp to power these headphones.

Have owned these for 4 years with no trouble, is headband quality a common issue that I dodged somehow?

Yes. Hifiman is known for great sound with poor QC and particularly poor headband/yoke durability

however at 69..

Can you elaborate on the headband issue?
Does the headband break like separating the 2 ear cups, or does the fake leather just fall apart?
Thanks

How do these compare to the MASSDROP X SENNHEISER HD 6XX HEADPHONES?

Picked one up as well. What kind of DAC/amp should we look at to run it, anyone?

Impedance? Can these be driven with a typical headphone jack on a phone?

No this definitely needs an Amp to get the most out of it... yea you can get sound out of it, but you would be doing yourself a disservice. I owned one for 3 weeks before returning. Loved them but too heavy for my head. I was having fatigue too soon to justify its use. But that's just me, my head only likes light headphones.

Haven't had it happen to mine but the headband is well known to break -- I think where it attaches to the cups, but I could be recalling that detail wrong.

These are really good but extremely uncomfortable for me. Like someone trying to squeeze my brains out. Anyone know if there is a fix for that issue? I have upgraded thicker and more squishy pads, but that doesn't solve the issue.

Not sure how it's a no brainer if you're paying $69 for ~1.5 years of use then pay another $100 for a headband.

Buy two and save $30 when headband on first one breaks.
