$2500 is a lot of money to spend on a TV with dated tech. There is a big difference between MLA/QD-OLED and a standard WRGB panel. Recommend going with the Samsung, ponying up a bit more for an LG G3 or Sony A95L, or waiting until 2024 when MLA/QD-OLED will start making its way into mid-tier TVs.

I have this TV. It's beautiful. That is all.

If you're a tire kicker you'll figure out a way to kick the tires….and I'll continue to enjoy this TV which I only paid about $150 more for earlier this year.

How does this compare vs. the C3 for a bit less money or the G3 for a bit more?

Lacks in brightness? This has to be a joke, I have a 77 G1 and have it in a room with sun windows and don't have any issues. The g2 is brighter than the g1. Sure the g3 is crazy brightness but because of the contrast rate on OLED this isn't really an issue.

Rtings puts real scene SDR brightness for g2 at almost 500 nits. And the g3 real scene sdr about 574. My g1 real scene sdr is only 300 for SDR and have no issues at all and I have it in a room with sky windows. 90% of content is in SDR still.

The g2 is a fantastic tv with a 5 year warranty built in from LG

here are photos of my 77 G1, ive had it for two years now and its been great. paid $2600 for it back then.

Speaking from first-hand experience, the LG G3 (along with the S95C and A95L) is a significantly better TV than previous year's flagship TVs. I have an A90J that does not come close to it, even with Sony's superior processing. The last 18 months have seen more significant improvements with OLED than in the previous 6-8 years.

Additionally, the 5 year warranty on the Gallery series is only on the panel, and the consumer is responsible for parts and labor after the first year.

Finally the stand is an extra $200 if you don't want to wall mount, though LG is giving it away for free on LG G3 models.

As previously mentioned, there really no reason to buy a previous year's flagship over an S90C unless you just really don't like Samsung.

I personally don't think LG would put MLA Technology into the C series. MLA Technology, five year panel warranty, and thin design are part of the allure of the Gallery Series. If LG puts MLA Technology into the C Series, it would cannibalize sales of the Gallery Series. I'm curious to see what's unveiled at CES 2024 in a few months.

im not saying the G3 isn't better but its the law of diminishing returns, the g3 on sale at Costco recently was nearly $1000 more for better HDR brightness. You could buy this 77" and a 55" OLED on sale for about the same price as one g3 77" just saying.

I paid $70 for the stands on my G1 and only needed it for a few days before mounting it, but if you spending this much on a tv it should be mounted.

If you're coming from LCD you would still be pretty happy with Gallery series regardless of which model you get.

Also ive dealt with LG a lot in the past, if you push them even just a little they will cover everything with labor. I had a c9 and a b7a that recently started getting burn in (this was before the OLED software got better at mitigating this), they replaced both panels and labor, both were way out of warranty, didn't even fight, just pushed them a little on the issue. On the other hand ive also had a samsung ks8000 who fought me tooth and nail about covering a backlight issue one month out of warranty.

If you want to kick tires as other have said check out the comparison:

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...shold=0.10

Clearly the g3 is better in many avenues, but for real scene SDR its not much of a difference.

LG has already said MLA is coming to all of their models. Just a matter of 2024 or 2025.
