$2500 is a lot of money to spend on a TV with dated tech. There is a big difference between MLA/QD-OLED and a standard WRGB panel. Recommend going with the Samsung, ponying up a bit more for an LG G3 or Sony A95L, or waiting until 2024 when MLA/QD-OLED will start making its way into mid-tier TVs.

I have this TV. It's beautiful. That is all.

If you're a tire kicker you'll figure out a way to kick the tires….and I'll continue to enjoy this TV which I only paid about $150 more for earlier this year.

LG has already said MLA is coming to all of their models. Just a matter of 2024 or 2025.
That's interesting. I didn't see or hear that. Thanks for letting me know. I have the LG C1, and I'll eventually want to upgrade. I honestly thought the only upgrade path would be the Gallery Series because I don't think there's enough improvements from the C1 > C2 > C3 for me to upgrade right now.

That's why I went with G3 when Black Friday prices hit. There just wasn't enough difference between the A90J I had and the C3 (and perhaps A90J is even a tad better), and the narrowing price difference between C3 and G3 make the G3 more viable IMO.

The C series is in a bit of no-man's land because flagship prices are coming down and Samsung now has QD-OLED on their mid-tier lineup. Perhaps the C series gets a heat sink and the new Alpha processor next year, and they hold MLA for G series for one more year before giving the C series MLA?

Mentioned at the bottom of this article. Also, a good 'wiki' on MLA

Rumors are suggesting that next year's C4 won't get MLAs.

"Based on the pictures, we speculate that the MLA OLED panel will once again be reserved for the G4 range and not make it to C4. Besides higher brightness and better efficiency, MLA OLED has a different anti-reflective coating, which seems to be observable in the photos below."

Interesting. I'm curious what LG will do to get the C4 competitive with the S90D. I guess maybe just banking on uneducated customers continuing to spend money on barely improved models from year to year.

Also, if the C4 isn't not getting MLA next year then I guess it's also probable that Sony won't be bringing QD-OLED to A80M, which is disappointing.

Except when Dolby vision is winning the hdr10+ war and you are stuck with an "HD DVD" scenario in 2 years and have no Dolby vision

Dv is winning. Samsung refuses to pay the fee and unfortunately that means it's LG or Sony....

The Sony X90L is supposedly a really good performer for a reasonable price. 85" are going for $2000. Might not have all the latest bells and whistles, but you're getting Sony's XR processor which is the best in the biz.

G2 is barely any different vs c3. Avs had a shoot out even the c2 difference at the shoot out was barely noticeable.

They all share the same panel, only a heat sink is the difference

A 77" a95k > G3 > g2/c3

Samsung doesn't belong in the list as no dovi support. These are movie TVs for those with tons of HDR content or gaming tv. Plain and simple. If you are majority sports or regular TV... Don't waste the money on these... It's overkill as you won't be utilizing the primary silky blacks that you need for movies

Speaking from first-hand experience, the LG G3 (along with the S95C and A95L) is a significantly better TV than previous year's flagship TVs. I have an A90J that does not come close to it, even with Sony's superior processing. The last 18 months have seen more significant improvements with OLED than in the previous 6-8 years.

Additionally, the 5 year warranty on the Gallery series is only on the panel, and the consumer is responsible for parts and labor after the first year.

Finally the stand is an extra $200 if you don't want to wall mount, though LG is giving it away for free on LG G3 models.

As previously mentioned, there really no reason to buy a previous year's flagship over an S90C unless you just really don't like Samsung.
Samsung TVs don't support dovi

If you are buying this TV for anything but movies or HDR gaming, you are literally wasting money for something you don't need. Buy an 85" x90 mini led instead and have more real estate for cheaper and much higher brightness for sports/non HDR content

The c3 is same panel as c2. They converted all tvs to evo panels in July of 22

It depends on what you are looking for. HDR10+ has actually been shown to be more accurate in a lot of cases compared to DV. There are numerous YT videos on the topic. The Samsung S90C/95C are top level performers with little fault.

Also, A95K has been replaced by A95L.

Samsung is taking the full advantage of uneducated customers - No Dolby Vision - is real. Sony was smart enough to go for the VHS when Betamax failed and others dumped HD-DVD when Sony blu-ray succeeded. Alas. Samsung still stuck with HDR only and no Dolby vision.
