$2500 is a lot of money to spend on a TV with dated tech. There is a big difference between MLA/QD-OLED and a standard WRGB panel. Recommend going with the Samsung, ponying up a bit more for an LG G3 or Sony A95L, or waiting until 2024 when MLA/QD-OLED will start making its way into mid-tier TVs.

I have this TV. It's beautiful. That is all.

If you're a tire kicker you'll figure out a way to kick the tires….and I'll continue to enjoy this TV which I only paid about $150 more for earlier this year.

That's cool. My C1 77" came equiped with an Evo Panel because I bought it from the LG Partner Store in December 2021. I also verified it by the pink tint and I also confirmed the model number on the box.

2K for a 85" TV (You'll be hard pressed to find a 82" TV at any price and the 83" size is OLED)
You might look into the TCL 85-Inch QM8 or Hisense U7
Stay clear of LG 86" TVs They're not worth the hassle !!

I still have a 100" Hisense backordered from Amazon that is $3k. Is there a big difference compared to 77"? My viewing distance is about 13 feet.

Also ive dealt with LG a lot in the past, if you push them even just a little they will cover everything with labor. I had a c9 and a b7a that recently started getting burn in (this was before the OLED software got better at mitigating this), they replaced both panels and labor, both were way out of warranty, didn't even fight, just pushed them a little on the issue. On the other hand ive also had a samsung ks8000 who fought me tooth and nail about covering a backlight issue one month out of warranty.

Clearly the g3 is better in many avenues, but for real scene SDR its not much of a difference.

I see all this talk about g2 not being bright enough is complete nonsense. I have owned a 77" C9 since early 2020. This TV is in a regular living room and it has looked fantastic with zero issues of being bright enough. I'm about 100% positive all the c and g tvs that have come after are much brighter so there is no way any of these tvs will have any issues with brightness unless your neighbor is actually the sun ☀.

Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision, that's an automatic pass from me. There's a lot more content being processed in Dolby Vision than there is for HDR10+, not to mention Dolby Vision performs much better in HDR category.

My guess is without MLA, this TV won't look much better if any than the current C3 series. Not sure its worth the money.

It really depends on use case, and more so the pickiness of the user. My parents love their new LG ur8000 86" and honestly I am impressed by the bang for buck they got. $900 for an 86" tv that's rated above 7/10 on rtings is incredible in my opinion.

Granted oled-aholics and younger eyes see value in spending more $, but personally I'm annoyed by vague fearmongering like "not worth hassle!!". 95% of people would love the tv my parents got.

That was one of a few reasons I passed on Samsung also. Ended up buying the 77-inch LG C3.

The 100" Hisense U8K has a completely different panel than all of the other sizes for that model. It's been an issue a lot of customers have faced. Check out the review on Best Buy.

Sammy refuses to license Dolby Vision, so "better" is subjective. I would argue that Dolby Vision content will look better on the LG. Dolby Vision is the best standard for picture quality and you can't simultaneously claim best picture and refuse to support Dolby Vision.

Hope Samsung will do the correct thing by joining Dolby Vision. Samsung took a decade to join back to OLED, while all those years was against OLED.
