I'm not really encouraging anyone to upgrade but this is objectively false.
I went from a ceramic series 5 to a 9 and
- everything is insantaneous, where as the 5 was laggy (and it annoyed me.)
- the bezels are smaller and it's more dramatic than i anticipated
- my battery life experience went from ~11 hours to well over 24h
- siri is more reliable (quicker on device transcription) although this benefit is kinda negated by the fact almost anything you instruct it to do entails the internet so it's a mixed bag
- it charges faster (that I don't care about)
- has the single-handed tap gestures ... which are admittedly useless

but yeah if you don't care about any of these things, then sure, they're totally the same

Series 8…literally no meaningful differences in the last ~4+ versions of this watch. I'm an "apple guy" and still wear a series 4 because there's been 0 reason to upgrade. Side by side or on your wrist, no one would be able to tell what model you're wearing

So I bought the used (like new) midnight series 8 from the deal below for $205. I can't decide if new is worth the $50 more. Any opinions?

I'm sticking with the cheaper Amazon deal. It's "like new" and "in original packaging," so it can't have been used much, if at all.

Same. Sporting my 4 and it works great! The only problem is the battery life has degraded enough that I want a new watch. But I think I can power through till next year and get a 10.
My issue was storage w my music so I had to upgrade

I actually had apple replace my battery ~3 months ago. It was $99 - but they actually just send you a brand new/reburb watch...as in not only was the battery new, but also the case/screen was new. It ended up being a better deal than what I could find locally on Facebook marketplace, so Im happy with the decision. I'll stick to this S4 until apple releases a model that includes glucose monitoring or blood pressure.

Thanks OP! I pulled the trigger. I've had the SE watch for a few years now and love it. Figure it's time to get the 2nd best version of the watch.

Wow I didn't know about this. Did you have apple care? And how long did it take to get your watch back?

It took about a week in total I think? Since they didn't actually fix it so much as just send me a new one, they shipped as soon as they received mine. I did not have apple care, my battery "health" was at like 65% of original capacity. You can find details on the process here: https://support.apple.com/watch/repair

At $299 for the 45mm I'd just pay $42 more for a Series 9 at Target with the RedCard 5% off.

Thanks. Comes to $116 including shipping and taxes. My battery health is at 72%. I might get the battery replaced. I guess I'll aim to get Apple Watch 14 😆

I think that 225 was in store only and everywhere is OOS.
No, it was both. I bought 6 and only had to pick up 2 (by choice so I could list them ASAP).
