Would aim for a smaller sized laptop for a daily haul to class. Get a 13 or 14" then can use a simple switch or dock to connect to their monitors on their gaming rig back at home base. If it's just for taking notes, even a Chromebook would work if you wanted to spend less.

Would this setup be good for a college student? He already has a gaming setup and wants something lighter for class.

For laptops with screen size 16" and above, the lightest are the Acer swift Edge 16 and the LG Gram 17. Both are less than 3.5 lbs compared to this HP

We looked at 14" and he didn't like the form factor. I'm not worried about it being super light since his gaming laptop is a brick. Thus just seemed like a pretty good deal compared to others in this price range. I can't keep up with all the new specs and processors on laptops these days. Any others out there that are better deals right now? Thanks for the help!

Can this laptop get anymore cheaper on Cyber Monday? Would HP price protect if a they offer a promo code that makes this laptop even cheaper come Monday?

My computer savvy is not what it used to be with the newer models. Is this one much better than the one at Costco? Other than no touch screen and QHD vs FHD what would be the difference? Would the i7 for $50 be a no-brainer or is there not much difference?

Wow, $607.04 for the i7 version. With that screen, how good the new HP keyboards are, and the 4x4 SSD, this seems like a crazy good deal

I just bought an M3 Max MBP, but I'm so tempted to get this for work

The Lenovo yoga 16" deal is worth a solid look if they care about touch screen and want that sized form factor. Bonus points if Best Buy total member.

My bad, looks like a previous chat rep has configured my entire account as EPP or something, I'm seeing slightly higher prices in incognito, $617.49 there ( after 5BFCM23 coupon )

I ended up going w/ the gold ( for no reason at all other than I haven't seen one out in the wild yet, good chance it'll be ugly ), so $20 more

Would upgrading from the i5 to the i7 reduce battery life?

I have been hunting for a laptop in the $500~1000 range during black friday. This seems to be the best deal so far. Good CPU, screen, DDR5 memory. The only downside is the 512 GB hard drive.

If it's just for note taking, I'd almost look at the remarkable with the keyboard rather than a traditional laptop.
