To get karaoke versions of songs you An application like KaraFun or YouTube both run very well on an Apple TV.
I started with a jbl party box 100 (very similar to this) and ran the audio output of my laptop to the input on the speaker and then an hdmi cable from laptop to television. To get the music and voice both coming out of the jbl.
It's a deep ocean and I don't want to threadjack any farther but In general yes something like this can make a great home karaoke setup.

650w seems a ton, but is that RMS? Dang, if only it has wireless mics.
It does not have an external mic jack. It has an aux in input. Only the essential model has an external mic input since that model doesn't come with mics
You'll need another unit, unfortunately.

Since you have both can you confirm?
I wonder if the costco's deal has a better value?
Thanks!
Thanks!
1. Pair the speaker over bluetooth with your phone/computer as the music source, or use the aux in; vocal over the wireless microphone is mixed with music by this speaker itself
2. Or, use another (supposedly existing or better/stereo) music setup and use this for vocal only
As much as I wanted to love the new Klipsch party speakers, there are better options. I purchased this with the JBL Encore Essential (which you can pick up for fifty bucks less right now), and the JBL won, hands down. Even the heft and finishes of the JBL are superior.
Both speakers are approximately equally loud. However, the JBL had boomier and punchier bass, with twice the number of boost options (2 vs 1) as the Klipsch. But the Klipsch really struggled with the highs with its one teeter - the smaller, doubled tweeters of the JBL are immensely cleaner and clearer.
Long story short, as much as I wanted this speaker to be awesome, Klipsch leaves a lot to be desired here compared to JBL.

No mixer needed. It comes with 2 mics and you just need to sync either your phone or tablet via Bluetooth and open karaoke songs on YouTube. Also, you can use a firetv stick to your TV or monitor and connect it's audio via Bluetooth to the JBL and you'll have the karaoke in your TV. That's how I do.
