This tool set doesn't come with the case. It come with case, if you buy this model "DeWalt DWMT45226H 226 pc. Mechanics Tool Set w/ ToughSystem Large Case". The model "DeWalt DWMT45226H" look like it's using case "DEWALT TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 Tool Box DS300 Large". That case is normally price about $85. I found the best price sale right now around $60 without shipping cost, but you could pickup for free near by store.

Ordered two sets from Amazon and both boxes arrived ripped, beat up and bulging in the centers. Opened them up and there were sockets and broken tray fragments all over the place. 5 out of 6 trays were broken and I was missing two sockets in one set and 4 sockets and an extension in the other. I would make one good set and return the other, but they trays are unusable.

Look at the Amazon link in this thread. Doesn't look like it does.
That is correct. But, it does include 3 trays that provide home for each item. These trays can go into tool drawers or box of your choice...

I don't need it, but $68 on Amazon to go with the new 56" husky box I just bought seems like a no brainer. Can finally retire my ancient Powerbuilt set to truck duty.

That said, how does this compare to the legendary 192 piece DeWalt?

For reference, this set, with the box, has been $149 as recently as late August. The set with the box also has a shallow tote included.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the eBay listing does not mention three trays?

The auction directly on CPO website indicates three trays, but shipping is $9.99 I would pay an extra $9.99 for three trays. I want to make sure before I click this auction versus the one in the listing on eBay which as far as I can tell does not include trays.

Do I have this right?

This is the set that Home Depot has major trouble shipping to home or store without breaking the "tough" boxes. Makes one wonder if this is what becomes of some of those pallets of HD returns. At $66, seems like a good buy for anyone needing a trayed set for their garage.

Is there any reason to get this if I bought the 192 piece Dewalt mechanics tool set deal the other day?

This might sound crazy but I've been comparing both of them for the last half hour and...the 226 is the better deal if they actually deliver. The socket sets are pretty much the same except the 192 piece has 2 more spark plug sockets (which you can usually use a deep socket for),2 more extension lengths in each drive size, a 1/4 drive universal joint, 3 drive adapters, 8 torx sockets, and 9 hex sockets. The drive extensions, adapters and universal joint are things you can pick up for a couple dollars from harbor freight and should not be used in situations taxing torque so the build quality of Dewalt shouldn't matter. The only torx and hex socket that isn't commonly available in bit sets is T45 and H8, singles you can pick up or if you get a complete torx or hex set should include even more sizes than the 192 kit. Lexivon has a torx set that includes an additional T47, T50, T55, and T60 for $13 https://www.amazon.com/LEXIVON-So...=8-15&th=1

The 226 has 8 extra wrenches. The extra 8 wrenches are not a complete set so it won't save you from having to get another set but could hold you over until you need more sizes.

If it's not too late to cancel the 192, the few extra accessories it has can be filled in for less than the $70 price difference. I already have the 192 set that I bought for $120 a couple years ago and I'm getting this deal as a second set of sockets and ratchets because it is that good of a deal.

In my opinion the wrenches make it a more useful set than the 192 set. Worth a try to see if it'll actually ship.

Count me in with the "don't need another set, but just couldn't resist the deal" crowd. LMAO

Thanks for the insight but let me ask you this. If I got another 31 dollars off from a place that is a byproduct of bees would that change your mind especially with needing to spend another 50 for the box for this set? I think it was about 110 with that other discount.

110? Keep your order. They're pretty comparable honestly, with this one being slightly better.

So, what looks like the best place to buy this from - Ebay or Amazon? Is there even going to be a difference between the two estores?
