Lesser cast iron can't achieve the results one can get with this oven. The L.C. cast iron is thin strong and lighter in weight. It's a joy to handle and to use. The enamel is far superior. This oven can be passed down as an heirloom if not abused. L.C. will replace if the interior enamel ever pops.

Care: Medium low only on the stove if you want to avoid scorching. Best for slow browning and caramelizing followed by oven finish. 400F in the oven is fine. Wood or silicone tools. Hand wash, it will wipe clean forever if you haven't scorched or abraded the enamel. No abrasive cleaners. Baking soda and or vinegar if you have a burn stain.

We have a 5 qt red oval and I really wanted the 7.25 in the same color, but gonna make the leap to 9 qt and see if it's useful or just comically large for our needs

Why can't the 7.25 qt be in red for that price? I'd get the 9 qt but I'm afraid I'd throw my back out just lifting it lol.

I've been using a similar Lodge for the last year or so and I love it. But damn I want one of these. I saw a smaller one for 200 at Marshall's but I didn't pull the trigger

Got the 7.25 in black for $250! This is a dream purchase for me. I thought about the 9 qt but I have a knock off Costco in 7qt and 9 seems huge for our family of 5, and I love batch cooking…

ETA: I'm so excited!!!!! Merry Christmas to me!!!
