Thanks for sharing OP. Unfortunately, for anyone curious about the D+ gift card and using it to renew their annual subscription, this is directly from the D+ site: "Note that neither Disney+ Gift Cards nor Disney Gift Cards can be used toward an annual Disney+ subscription."
I had canceled my sub when the price went to $140 and it just recently ended. I refuse to pay for the ad supported sub. Was hoping this could be used to renew, but oh well…
To any moderators listening: I think you need to edit the original post to let everyone know that Disney+ gift cards can't be used on annual subscriptions. I think it's misleading because intuitively most people would think a company's gift card can be used for all their products, but that's not the case here.

I honestly had not checked when I commented, but it appears that is correct after poking through their FAQ:
"Disney+ Gift Cards and Disney Gift Cards* can be used toward a new or existing monthly Disney+ or Disney Bundle subscription that is billed directly by Disney, including:
Disney+ Basic
Disney+ Premium
Disney Bundle Duo Basic
Disney Bundle Duo Premium
Disney Bundle Trio Basic
Disney Bundle Trio Premium"

Just as a heads up, if you have access to a student email, you can get hulu student + disney ad versions for $2/mo each. Sign up for hulu student and you can add on disney plus. I feel the same way though, I was about to cancel because of the outrageous rate hike, but for $2/mo I'll keep it for now. The ads aren't crazy like hulu, but I'm sure they will increase in frequency over time.

"What is the difference between a Disney+ Gift Card and a Disney Gift Card?
A Disney+ Gift Card can only be used toward a monthly Disney+ or Disney Bundle subscription, while a Disney Gift Card is redeemable for practically all things Disney, including a monthly Disney+ or Disney Bundle subscription."

I was in from the start with annual subs. I watched it go to $79 last year to $109 this year. So I cancelled. I'm trying the ad supported version as a $2 add on to the $1 Hulu deal.
