If you have the ability to complete verification through ID me as a first responder, healthcare worker, military, teacher etc., the price drops to $334.49. Also there may be cash back offers for HP on various credit cards and/or through cash back sites to lower the price even further.

Have got laptop from HP still running great.. one is from yr 2011 and one from yr 2015.. No issues except now windows 11 OS upgrade
I've had the opposite experience at this price level.
Had a Dell inspiron years ago. Hinges broke (among other issues). Widespread inspiron issue that still exists to this day. Tons of reports on reddit.
Currently have an HP pavilion from several years back. Hinges still in perfect condition. Much fewer issues.
Note, I'm comparing apples to apples here because the inspiron and pavilion lines are at the same price level.

This sounds like a tax scam by vendors.
8gb makes this worth 200 bucks. I luckily I think ram is upgradable throw the 2 ram sticks away they are worth 10 bucks each.
Go buy either 16gb or 2 8gb for 30 bucks.
If there are ram slots essentially making this 30 -40 bucks higher and true price is 450 after taxes. Making this deal not good at all
