I have them installed in my NAS now and did a full pre-clear, write, read test on them without any issues and all the other drives I have in my nas were also WD externals.
My older NAS has drives over 5 years old without any issues at all.
So you can absolutly save more if you are willing to put in a bit of work for it, but the nice thing here is no extra work and warranty support.
By now I have saved enough that should a drive be bad buying a new one is still cheaper than buying direct drives.
I'd rather buy the cheaper used ones with 5 yr warranty than a new ones with no warranty.
don't trust these drives with any more than that
is the 20TB helium? helium atom is smaller than every other atom other than hydrogen, it will leak out of any seal over enough time - will they work when all the helium is gone?

You paid for a brand new drive, they gave you a refurbished one. You didn't get what you ordered.

I have kept the case and can put it back together easily when I did this the first 10 times, but never has any drive given me issue so I didn't even bother this time.
Also as a techy person I keep the 12v power adatper you get with it and turn it into power supplies for my DIY LED projects. Win/Win
But you do what you want with your money by all means.
I just have seen too many refurb/used drives die prematually or unexpectedly after being a member of Serve the Home for a long time seeing the stories of others, and my own experience in my day to day work when I used to be a Systems Engineer and was incharge of all the storage servers for the county.
I need 5 of them... yet a single 22TB is cheaper than a single 20TB ($335 vs. $380). Looks like I may have to get 4 x 20TB and 1 22TB
