Apparently you like to type more than you search and read. Here you go: https://www.toptiergas.com/wp-con...019-12.pdf

There is a standard. There is in fact a licensing program. It was designed by a bunch of major car makers and fuel stations. The cost is miniscule but non zero to implement. The key detergent is PEA. Techron has PEA. Many fuel system cleaners don't. Cheap gas often does not. That is because there are multiple possible detergents that can be used and PEA is not the cheapest.

I own a 450 hp engine car. I like cars and I have spent a lot of time on this issue. IMHO PEA should be mandated. But the US is not some perfect country where everything that should happen, happens. Gas stations sell old fuel all the time and yes, gas does go bad over time. The minimum requirements are bunk like so many minimum requirements. If you have an old car or something that is a daily beater and you drive a lot, you can do whatever. My dealer charges me a liver for anything. The independent shops around me are lousy. I spend the extra $ cause I like my car and because of anything happens I am out a bunch of money.

Yes all the top brands use it. That's because for a tiny amount of money you get all the petrol heads with nice cars to come to your station and fill up premium gas. It's why I know exactly where is the one station in a 25 mile radius where I can get 100% gasoline gas. No top tier means they don't get my business. Multiply me by anyone with a good car who reads up on cars and you can work out why every top brand (hint … top tier) is top tier and the rest are not.

I had a partially clogged injector that wouldnt unclog and a bottle of this definitely helped to clear it up (along with an italian tune up heh). Not completely snake oil.

Supposedly, according to BITOG forums (though this was years ago; not sure if EPA detergent requirements have been increased since then), the amount of detergent/techron/PEA in the complete system fuel cleaner is about 10x than what is in the gas at the Chevron stations. If you've been using top tier stations the whole time you're more than likely just fine, but if you mixed in Ma and Pa's discount gas from time to time, a bottle of this around every oil change time wouldn't hurt.
Gas is $2.60/gal here in NM but that doesn't make moving here worth it. on top of that I get $1/gal off 35g using Kroger fuel points making it $1.60/gal.

I usually fill Shell or Costco fuel, do I really need this?
You should be fine as both are top tier. However, it wouldn't hurt to use this if you have not had one before.

Techron works, and works well. Put a bottle in before filling up for a long highway drive. You will definitely notice the difference.

...[is he serious?]

...[ok, don't feed the troll]

[but I can't just let glaring stupidity be...]

Have you ever heard of this giant American multinational corporation, publicly traded on NYSE as "CVX", called Chevron Corporation? You should look up their fuel stations. They put this Techron additive into every single gallon of fuel they sell.

There was a Chevron Engineer who chimed in one time. He said the Chevron additive is so good that you really just need to fill up 2x a year with Chevron gas to get the same effects. No fuel cleaners needed, ever.

How often should you put this stuff in your car? I've seen mixed info online, some people say you should put this stuff in every 3k miles, other people say you only need it every 15k+ miles to keep things clean.

My minivan was giving me 260 miles per tank. After putting in this fuel cleaner I noticed a 50 mile jump. I would recommend this using twice a year.

It's not really a banner. Look for the small peach colored link between the price and the add to cart button.

Top tier gasoline is a branded gasoline with more additives. Additives are more expensive than gas and cheaper stations use minimum amounts of cheapest because some people only compare by price. Is that problematic? Yes. But some people shop by $ and don't know or don't care. Why would a gas station use max additives unless they cater to the top end of the market?

If you use top tier gas, and your engine is well designed, you *should* be fine. It's too complicated AFAIK to tell which engines will have issues and which not. Petrolheads may know. I know for my car.

You can on occasion clean with fuel system cleaner because of the gas you added being from a cheap shop or whatever reason floats your boat and there may be some impact. Example, you buy a used car and earlier owner only filled cheaper gas then you likely have deposits.

But the real answer is that in real world use, a bit of deposits is a few percent horsepower and mileage, which is difficult to track and work out.

For my $, at $5/bottle it is worth it. In its class, this is the best product.

Costco doesn't have their own gasoline distribution network, they simply buy gas from somebody in your locale, so it's going to be the same fuel as some of the local petrol stations in your area. It's nearly impossible to tell where it really comes from, but they do contain detergents and are "Top Tier" certified.
https://www.costco.com/gasoline-q-and-a.html

Additionally, the Costcos near me almost always have a long line of cars, so I know they go through a lot of fuel, and the gas is fresh. By and large it's good fuel, but it does contain ethanol so you may want to use something like this on occasion.
