I'll do it for 7a not for this 3 yr old. 100 is too much for 3yr old. I'll give them 35 for the plan tyvm
Phone is 18 months old and newer iterations aren't groundbreaking. It's pretty solid for 100.

The trick in this deal is whether the ST phone can be activated using a Tracfone card. The original poster indicates that is the case but it's not clear what does mean - can one just put in the card or does it require contacting CS?
It would be good if somebody could confirm the steps.

The cheapest ST plan required for activation (and unlocking) start at $35 - there are other cheaper plans but those seem to be refill.
So the cost is 99+35 = $134 before tax using ST plan.

the SIM card is same for both brands. So the o e that comes with the phone can be activated with either service. Refill plans can be used to activate a service. I did it with the 10$ plan.
I had to contact TF CS because their online system didn't work for the phone I got from walmart.
All you need is the PIN they generate when you buy a plan from them.

Could you please be more specific on:
- what was the plan that you bought
- what network was the phone you got from Walmart locked

Regarding the refill plans - how does this work for unlocking a plan?
My understanding (potentially incorrect) is that locked phones get tied to a new plan either new or port-in number - thus using refill won't be successful in unlocking the phone.

How to get this phone unlocked:
Step 1: Buy the phone and a Plan
Step 2: Activate phone and plan
Step 3: Wait 60 days for phone to be unlocked
Step 4: Take to another carrier

*Note: The Bootloader is locked on this phone as the OEM software provided disables "Bootloader OEM unlock".

Tell me about it I'm right with you I was the first one to post about the Hulu deal for 99 cents a month and somebody hijacked it and got all the reaps and thumbs up and I got nothing I reported it but that didn't help much.

I bought this https://www.ebay.com/itm/28481367...media=COPY
It clearly says can be used to activate new line which is what i did.
I bought the straight talk version from Walmart which came with a simcard thst works for all tracfone brand carriers apparently. Its not tied to any particular carrier until it is activated on carrier with a number.
I got a new number with the above plan so I am guessing it should be fine.

I beg to differ; 5:42am beats 6:01am!

Can I buy this phone, use my kid's existing tracfone sim card a few time, and expect it to be unlocked in sixty days, instead of buying a new plan?

if you buy it from walmart, most likely they will not scan it correct, so the phone can not be activated, and its a real hassle to return and rebuy, at least the walmart i brought wont let me.
and the phone rings 199 if you try to buy in store, they would not match online price.
in short, don't buy it from Wal-Mart unless you have time and patience to deal with all this

PS: i returned mine, i guess i will just give up pixel 6a as my second phone.

Do you need to call TracFone CSR to ask them to "rebrand" the phone from StraightTalk to TracFone in order to activate?

Great point for those looking at Pixel for the pure Android experience.
Locked bootloader means no rooting or custom ROMs.

This happens due to Verizon _even_ after the device has been unlocked.

I did via chat on their website. I didn't mention anything about rebrand and neither did they.
I said I got this phone from Walmart and online activation is not working for me.
They took my name and IMEI and confirmed the phone is legit bought and then proceeded to setup my account with my email and the plan PIN I got from ebay.

Do I need to keep the plan active for 60 days or just activate 30 days and cancel?
