Whatever you read online was wrong, the 3080 is about 30% faster than the 3070, huge gap. 3060TI and 3070 are very close (5-10%). 3080 is sameish as 4070, 3070 is about a 4060ti, and 3060ti is about a 4060.

Still a good deal, but not as good as the other deal.

3080 would have the benefit of 10GB of RAM vs 8GB on 3070. Not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of since we're comparing.

It's not a on paper thing, I'm not sure where you are looking but every big (gamers nexus etc) has them about 30% apart. I own both, have ran both in my main pc, it's definitely a big gap between them. Fps on the same pc same settings is going to be roughly 30% higher on the 3080 vs 3070. Like I said the 3080 and 4070 are fairly close, maybe that's what you were looking at. The 3070 was always a meh card, it was so close to the 3060ti for a good bit more, the 3080 at msrp was a monster bargain.

Maybe you are looking at tight fps numbers if it's a super demanding game, if the 3080 is running 60fps and the 3070 is at 42fps that's only 18fps, but that's still 30%.

I went MSI - the newer chipset allows more upgradability in the future I think. I was in the same boat but just made a decision due to the MSI being new and returnable until end of Jan.

This is a pretty good deal if you're after the expensive (and powerful) GPU. The only thing about this I didn't like was the processor being a generation behind.
The GPU is also a generation behind at RTX 3070. Now we have RTX 4070.

Very slow shipping with Acer refurbished on eBay. Bought a laptop 4 days ago and it still has not shipped. Moreover, the extended warranty they advertise starts the day you buy the laptop. I got an email saying my warranty started for the laptop before Acer shipped it. Sketchy business practice for sure.

Are you bothered by the used? This is a better computer than the MSI one. However, I don't think this one is worth the extra. However, the 3080 one that was up last week was even after buying a new case.

Do not buy a 30 series card, they do not support dlss 3.0 frame generation and are already outdated. Get a lower spec 40 series before you get this.

I would go with this one since the MSI has only a 4060. This one has a better GPU, power supply, and slightly faster CPU. Although the MSI is a bit less expensive and is new vs refurbished.

The 3070 will outperform the 4060 in every game currently available. If we were talking about a 4070 vs 3070 it would be a different story.

Without dlss 3 frame generation, yes. With it both a 4060 and 4060ti can out perform a 3070, but yes only in games that support dlss 3

At $810, the PC specs in this build are not bad for what you get... Is it just me, or does this PC rig look like a subwoofer? Lol...

From what I've read, frame generation is more important for increasing high frame rates even higher than it is at increasing low framerate. Basically, it could be good to bring you from 120FPS to 240FPS, but when bringing you from 30 FPS to 60 FPS, it doesn't feel nearly as responsive as native 60FPS.
I think the technology will be more useful in the future if we get much higher refresh rates.
