I have the same question, i'm not sure I understand the difference between the two aside from the smart display
One is 100w max and the other is 140w max. If you plan on charging 2 high powered devices at the same time, or need max charge speed on a laptop and some peripherals (tablets, phones, etc) then the 140 might be useful. Otherwise you can still get decent charge speeds on multiple devices with the 100w 727

Another difference which is more subtle but fairly important: I believe the 727 has less modes/ability for the port power management, meaning if you plug in multiple devices you want to make sure you put the highest power charging on the left USB-C (closest to the edge). That is prioritized and caused some confusion for me when I noticed my equipment wasn't charging as expected. An analogy is on some TVs, all HDMI ports are not equal and you have to search in the buried manual to see which one is the high frame rate or low latency input.

Specifically, if you use the middle USB-C and the middle USB-A you will not get 65W output and will be limited to 30W.

The newer model from Anker has higher power capability including both USB-C ports at high priority so you don't need to think which one to plug in. Additionally, the smart display gives you that knowledge since you can see the exact voltage/current if it matches your expectation.

Under the same conditions (using both middle ports) you will get 120W and 12W.

The USB ports on all my Anker power strips have failed at some point or another. I would carry a backup charger just in case. I've never had the USB port on a power brick type charger ever fail so I'm not sure why it's so hard to design it not to fail for power strips but I've about given up on using these for travel.

Can anyone else who has this 615 confirm whether or not it does 240V?

This Anker 615 compared with the also 65W 2 usb-c 1 usb-a Anker 735 [amazon.com] :
1. 615 adds 3ft AC extension to
- access outlets that are hard to reach (eg behind a dresser)
- if the 735 blocks the other wall outlet, using the 615 can avoid blocking the other outlet
2. 615 has 2 AC outlets while the 735 doesn't have any (615 gives you net 1 added AC outlet as plugging in the 615 uses an AC outlet, while the 735 just uses up 1 AC outlet)
3. 615 is bigger and heavier than the 735
4. 615's plug doesn't fold like the 735's does, but AC plug can plug into its own AC socket
5. using current coupon, 625 has a slightly lower price than the 735 ($36 v $38)

I wonder if this would be cruise ship approved?
I always bring a belkin wall mount surge protector with a 1 foot extension cord, plus some small multi-port usb/usb-c chargers to plug into it. 14 cruises across three different lines and I've never had it confiscated or questioned.

Yes since cruise ships don't allow surge protection (it's actually unsafe based on how electrical is wired on a ship) and this does not include any. I have brought it on multiple cruises for Royal Caribbean and Norwegian.
Yep, if you use an surge protector using old technology that only disconnects the positive terminal when triggered and ships use both the positive and negative terminals to work. So the negative terminal still works which can cause a fire. Which fires are the #1 danger to ships.

In my experience it is highly dependent on the security at the port. In the past Tampa has been super strict even taking non surge protector strips just because it has an on/off switch.

Like that this has 2 usb-c ports but is the 2nd AC plug on the bottom? Seems kind of awkward.

Meh. I don't think I need this anyway.
