They're 6oz, so they're pretty small. Used to be able to get this at about $1 per can 3-4 years ago. So it's not too bad for $14.

I've done that, but they actually flag your account from what the supervisor told me. Even though I take a pic and show them, the system logs how much you go to CS about purchases. What's crazy is that some things that arrive damaged or leaking, they told me I'd need to take a video BEFORE opening the box to prove that I didn't do anything to the items. Ridiculous.

It's not an expiration date though, it's a "best by" date. Totally made up by the manufacturer with little to no meaning or consistency between manufacturers. Many things can be used well after the "best by" date and are still good. I wouldn't pay full price or even buy anything after the best by date has passed because the manufacturer and retailer have already written it off, but if I had something over the date, I'd still use it and do.

I've had chips months after the "best by" date still crunchy and taste correct and others that are stale or have the old oil smell.

YMMV.

Yeah I'm well aware of that, though I'm not sure how there's little to no meaning to it - there's some meaning to it to a degree. Milk "can" be used after the expiration date, but from my experience it smells and tastes worse, even when right on the expiration/best buy date. I'm sure that it's always better to have a longer best by or expiration date in general, as not all of us eat these packaged foods right away. There wouldn't be anything wrong with them like the old oil smell or staleness possibility. If possible, I just try to price match at Target or wherever since B&M stores always have a further out best buy/expiration date

I bought them on September 29, 2018. Regular price was $15.98, I had a coupon for $3.20 and subscribe and save took another 15% off. Looks like the price has been pretty stable.

Not meaning to join the scaremongering crowed, but I have seen some of the "tainting". I think what the poster meant was that Amazon often commingle inventory, and you have some chance of getting products by 3rd party sellers meant to be fulfilled by Amazon.

Amazon often dispose of soon to be expired and dangerous inventory. There are billion dollar reverse logistics firms that would take in these truckloads for disposal. Oftentimes, unscrupulous managers will sell some of the inventory to smaller companies on the side. Pallets containing sharp objects, damaged products that failed to meet QC standards, expired foods, are often resold. Some of these may be infested with millions of roaches/mites/and disgusting amounts of rodents. Some firms will take these inventory, clean them, remove/re-stamp dates before selling them in marketplaces (eBay, FBA, etc.).

I want to reemphasize that I am definitely not trying to scare others as I buy food from Amazon myself, but these things 100% exist in the wild and you will encounter them more often than not. Just use caution and reject anything that look suspicious.
