Looks like the recall was back in 2017, and this is supposedly the improved version without the defects that were issued as replacements for the 2017 units. You may still be eligible to send yours in for a replacement.

I got this one, it is super powerful but the rubber gasket wore out on sink and caused a leak… super annoying, bought another one was cheap but something to note. Also supposed to use gasket instead of plumbers putty. Now I'm afraid when I use it maybe it'll loosen or cause a leak in the gasket kind of annoying.

I used plumbers putty. Have no issues. Iirc the instructions actually listed that plumbers putty may be needed. The application for this would be if your sink has more of a curved drain.

I also have this, bought it in 2013 for $87.97 according to Amazon. It's worked fine, perhaps a tad loud. I also installed using plumbers putty and haven't had any leaks in 10 years of use.
