these are not traditional polyurethane dry bags, they are made of much thinner and softer polyester.

Thanks for asking! The bags are made of a material designed to be water-resistant. They are not waterproof.
¡Gracias por preguntar! Las bolsas están hechas de un material diseñado para ser resistente al agua. No son impermeables.
Not waterproof? Crazy they call it a dry bag
Blue red and gray set also on sale for the same price.

Sizes are 2L, 4L and 8L. The 8L might be an ok size but I find that my 10L is the smallest useful size dry bag that I use. The 4L and 2L are both going to be tiny.

They are referred to as dry bags by hikers. They go inside of your hiking backpack and you put things inside of them that you don't want getting wet when it rains. Therefore...dry bag.

The Dry Bags that float and you use when you go on a boating or rafting trip is a different product.
Yes I have several for hiking and boating. They are all waterproof, not water resistant. You'll be a sad puppy if you are 3 days into your week long backpacking trip and then your stuff gets wet inside your "dry" bag.

Most dry sacks (in terms of hiking) that are available on the market are made of silnylon, these are made of polyester.

If you read the reviews, people trying to use these on Kayaking trips and what not, that's not their intended use case, and a silnylon sack would just as easily wet through with that type of exposure to water.
Except the bags you use on rafting trips are called dry bags. It's not like people are using the term incorrectly here. These not waterproof bags ought to get a different name.

I took these diving in cancun and they stayed dry inside. I actually ordered another set as they are super light compared to the thick pvc I'm used to

Someone told me these are great for dirty/wet clothes after the gym. Can anyone confirm?

I use tiny dry bags for my first aid kit and mess kit. 1-2L dry bags fit really nicely in the brain or side pockets of your backpack, and in a pinch they're small enough you dangle them off the straps of your bag if you need the space.

But yes, I don't think these are the type of dry bag you use for rafting. This type is used organize the insides of your hiking bag, and for you to be able to leave them outside without moderate rain/morning dew soaking the insides. Think of them as durable zip-lock bags. You actually don't want the waterproof bags for hiking; they're way heavier and a PITA to pack with.
