We played this. From a game standpoint, I would say it's not great. But if you grew up with Choose Your Own Adventure books like I did it's a fun and nostalgic way to spend a couple of hours or so. Beware it's also pretty much a one-and-done playthrough. But for this price play it and pass it on.

I bought this one myself and I'd 100% agree with EtherGnat comments above.

Also the game mechanism is like 90% reading paragraphs of text off the cards then making a choice and rolling a 6 sided die for a pass/fail test. Seemed like 5-10 such choices and die roles dictate the game. Not my cup of tea. Also its an hour game with a lot of reading so not well suited for younger kids who'd lack the patience.

Maybe for President's Day? My shopping cart says delivery Jan 12-22!

Many times those distant delivery promises get updated to MUCH sooner, but it doesn't look like the deal can be relied on as a 2023 gift.

Yeah? Not worth seeing how the other paths might play out or was it just not food enough of a story?

Great game for a cabin trip or long-weekend with family.

It is basically 2.5 hours of reading and 2-3 plays total (pass it off if you successfully did not lose any of the item cards.)

I bought another variant for my brother and prefer HOUSE OF DANGER content.

This isn't a slick deal. It's been this price for a few days. Also a few days ago it was under the BOGO sale on Amazon and Target.

While a decent discount off MSRP, this has gone lower in the past.

For reference, this was on sale at Walmart for $6.85, and Amazon for $7.50, a couple years ago:

https://slickdeals.net/f/15495109-house-of-danger-a-choose-your-own-adventure-strategy-board-game-6-85

https://slickdeals.net/f/15425140-choose-your-own-adventure-house-of-danger-board-game-7-50

Even with inflation, I'd personally wait for it to be closer to those price points to truly be a SD.

It's not an amazing game if you're looking for deep strategy or complex puzzles. But the story is so (intentionally?) terrible that it actually comes back around to being good in a very Mystery Science Theatre 3000 kind of way. Play it with a big group and take turns reading the cards in your most melodramatic voices. Laugh about how dumb some of the plot twists are. At this price I'd say it's fantastic as a party game as long as nobody is there expecting a serious gaming experience.

There's a small tunnel. Don't go in it. I remember this from the 80s and still am mad.

My son loved playing this game. Definitely a good Christmas gift for people shopping for 7-12 year olds. Older kids can enjoy this too, as well as adults, as there's plenty of action and mystery to keep you interested.

For any lover of CYOA books, this is a super fun little adventure that gets very odd at times.

I don't see where this is better than a CYOA book. Just go by the library and pick up one of the Oregon Trail books.

This is basically like a choose your own adventure book turned into a game. But the mechanics of the game seem sort of tacked on. I got it during the $7.50 deal. We played it for about 30 minutes. It's good for the nostalgia factor. Taking turns reading the story was fun, strategy not welcome here.
