You are spreading disinformation. I am a licensed union electrician and we use nothing but these to install romex in residential construction with wood studs.

I wouldn't use those staples on electrical wires but to each their own.

You must use insulated staples in some places. For example, Mass has this on the books:

It's still an insulated staple. Either one are fine for Romex. The guys saying to use metal staples don't know what they are talking about and metal staples alone are not approved by the National Electrical Code.

The person you quoted said electricians don't use these (I took "these" to mean this exact product and not to mean insulated staples in general), but I can see how that could come across as saying they don't use insulated staples in general. Depending on what he meant I either agree or disagree.

Yes they can. There's just a bit more breathing room with the 3/4 than the 1/2". I like to use the 3/4 more on 12/4 romex.
