I don't think I've had to provide proof. Sometimes it as easy and attempting a return and putting "missing items" as the reason. In some cases it would be an instant refund and keep the single food item.

Sometimes I have to do the live chat and the bot will do an instant refund. When I got stuck in a bot chat that was no help I just asked to speak to a person and it connected me w/ a real person. Not too painful of a process. YMMV though.

This does feel like it will be just a single can though, based on the typical price of $1.26, but who knows.

You can only get away with doing that so many times before they flag your account or worse. I don't think a $0.95 can of chicken broth is worth a strike on my account
