I don't recommend google hardware anymore. They can't be trusted. I had the older model which won't let me update settings anymore. It still works, but you cannot do anything about it: https://support.google.com/google...r/11257354

Incorrect. You can setup extra routers as points.
Source: I owned 3 routers. When wirelessly meshed the 2 Ethernet points are active so you can wire in a device if needed. I eventually used the 3 in an Ethernet backhaul.

Looks like amazon has it for $65. This is the wifi 5, not the wifi 6 version.

Dropping support is one thing but locking in settings is not acceptable. I own one, it works fine but forcing people to throw out working equipment by locking in settings is extortion. My new router is an ASUS which has better customizability. For those who like to keep things simple, Google routers are a good option, but I wouldn't recommend based on their support.

Fyi these have fallen into obsolescence... Mine started acted funny a few weeks ago and barely work now. Huge known issue in Google and Reddit forums that Google is refusing to give answers on. Stay away just my 0.02

The OnHubs, same thing happened. Google eventually stopped supporting it and you were largely screwed for any new config.

Of course, I made the mistake of going with an Arris Surfboard AX7800 mesh, and its settings are even worse, LOL.

My routers/points that are hardwired via Ethernet (one by way of a switch) are extremely stable. Again, I paid $30 each (used on EBay) and they've been working great .

I have three of these, brand new in box, from the T-Mobile deal a while back. I already had the old Google WiFi and never switched them out. I have read a few posts that people still prefer the old ones. I have had some weird issues with the old,. In one room, my main point, devices seem to get confused and drop Internet. Any advice? Should I move over to the new ones? Or maybe I ditch it all together and set up my Asus routers that can mesh?

I'm over Google/Nest WiFi. I don't know what happened recently but I'm rebooting my network 3 times a week now because WiFi performance will just fall off a cliff. I run three routers in a 2100 sq.ft house because 2 wasn't enough. I wanted to block a specific website and you can't do that. I tell everyone, that Best Wifis are the Apple iPhones of routers if you want something that just works with no tinkering than get it, if you want to do anything "technical" skip it. I'm close to looking into corporate grade equipment.
