Thanks for the insight!
Don't do it.. the player count has dropped significantly, the developers don't listen to player QOL suggestions, some players say the developers ban at their own personal delight, did I say the player count has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY?. This game is dying and this is a last ditch effort to squeeze the last bit of green out of the project.. Do not buy or if you do make sure you take advantage of Steams generous refund policy. Don't leave this game running while you sleep, go to the restroom, or make a store run; believe me you'll regret going over the 2 hour refund mark.

We tried it, it's ok but I didn't see what you get compared to similar games on Roblox or COD. If it had a lot of developer support it might be a good choice but sounds like the opposite.

Comparing it to Call of Duty is just unreasonable, given how much more accessible this game is. It's not $70, there's no blatantly obvious skill gaps, you don't have nearly as much toxicity, and it will run on underpowered hardware.
The developer team is tiny, but there's really not much to "fix" with this game like what's needed for a AAA title.
They pretty much nailed the core mechanics, so most of the updates have simply been balance related and adding new features.
I've gotten 300 hours out of it at full price with no complaints. Joining a full 128v128 match is always reliable, as long as you're playing during reasonable peak hours.

For $12, it's still worth playing.
But not if no one is playing it. The problem is that there's so many good games out there now, if a game relies on a large player base it has to really stand out.
I did like that people revive you, it makes it feel more like a team game.

There are plenty of people playing it.
I know more popular games have player counts in the tens of thousands, but do the math.
The maximum per server is 256 players and there's never an issue finding a full server during peak hours.
How competitive is this game? Are there relaxed servers / lobbies with those taking it seriously but without being insane about the entire process?
In my experience it was casual, but you still have to be good and tactical about your movement and don't try to carry the team to victory it won't happen just enjoy

Sounds good, thats what I am after. Some games just seem toxic with people who seem to think they are really in a life or death battle (and they'll ban you from a server in a heartbeat) or the other extreme everyone is wandering around lost. Now, during the free weekend 80% of people being lost should be expected though.
I'm a lifelong battlefield player up until bf5 so I understand the genre well. This is generally a very fun game, I experienced zero obvious cheating, community seems fun and supportive. My least fav thing is actually the graphical style, I find it detracts - id prefer bf1942 tier graphics and not Roblox.
Planetfall2 is 10x as fun and free but its a bit of a ghost town.
Real issue with battlebit is the devs are woke commisars who monitor text and voip and issue global bans at a whim. Not server bans. Global.
We live in the worst timeline - fake money. Fake freedoms, endless wars, and not even the illusion of free speech.

Banning folks for using racial slurs and VOIP spamming as part of reasoning why we're "in the worst timeline" and the Battlebit team being "woke commissars" is peak SlickDeals material. Bravo.

If you prefer censorship to be omnipresent and automated, then you really are beyond help. Do you agree with, for instance, Amazon cutting off all Amazon security functionality to the gentlemen whose delivery driver lied about hearing a racial slur? https://www.newsweek.com/amazon-s...on-1806947
Regulating speech is unacceptable in a free society. There is a mute function. If one finds their ears burning, they can utilize that function. Silencing people for their speech is ironically a very fascist and Nazi-esque thing to do.
