if you find one for right around $399, that looks like the sweet spot - better than the $100 off code:

Holiday savings for every budget. This deal ends Tuesday 12/5, 11:59 PM CT.
45% off any item priced $399 & up (excl. Clearance or previous sales), plus free ground ship - must use coupon code: MERRY2023
30% off any item priced $398 or less (excl. Clearance or previous sales), plus free ground ship – must use coupon code: MERRY2023

I picked up the following configuration, as I wanted 16GBof RAM and didn't want to hassle with buying the extra elsewhere:

Dell OptiPlex 5070 Small Form Factor, 1x Intel Core i5 6 Core (i5-9500) 3.00 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, No Optical, Intel Integrated Graphics, Windows 10 Professional

Order Subtotal $419.00
Promo Code: (MERRY2023) $188.55
Total Promo Discount $188.55
Tax $23.62
GRAND TOTAL $254.07

I ordered 10 laptops in 10 months from Dell Refurb

9/10 of A grade are good laptops with a good battery(90% Health) .
I paid $30 more, it well worth it, didn't even need to buy the 1 yr warranty.

Grade B is 50/50 roll of the dice for good laptop. These make spares or DIY gifts

Luckily dell warranty will supply the parts most of the time.

I have read the the difference between Grade A & Grade B and understand. However, I wonder if the Grade A is quite often basically indistinguishable from new in appearance. Any experiences, please? Repped.

I've ordered both. I couldn't see a difference.

I was thinking maybe getting an rx6400 and turning it into an emulator machine in the living room but I think I want a handheld device.

many have said that. perhaps grade A is a tax on those who think they may be getting a better grade?

I got a refurb Dell OptiPlex 3060 SFF last time they were on sale. It's my daily driver for everything. I just slapped another 8GB of RAM in it, that's it. It's been a great little machine for the price. I might get another one just to shuck the motherboard/cpu and put it in my old Plex rig, which is currently running on a 3rd gen I5.

Been watching for this one to come back. Need a laptop for my kid for college. Figured a 10th gen i5 should be good for general purposes.

These are all OLD.
And in this price, even with coupon, I still feel like it's super over priced.

The workstation GPU were released in 2017.
Fun fact, GTX 1080Ti was released in 2017. There wasn't even the RTX stuff that we all see today.
On another hand, if your work requires a Quadro, go buy one that's not this old.
Dell put the year 2017 Quadro with a 4 cores CPU together to get you a lot of waiting time at work.

And Who in the right mind would go buy a 6cores 6 thread i5 or 8 cores 8 threads i7 today?
The two generations ago, crappy i5-12400 would beat all these 14nm++++++++++ CPU.
Now think about it, I still dont know why Intel would put a MBA guy to be the CEO seat to lead a tech company.

Dell is so good at trading e-trash for cash. So smart.

Picked up a couple i5 8500 3060 sff. About $140 each after tax. It was slightly cheaper than the 40% off sale on cyber Monday. 128gb SSD and 8gb ram. I have been using 256gb SSD for my business workstations, not sure if 128 will be enough but we will see. 3060 has one nvme but only pcie gen 2x4, I think the 5060 has pcie gen3x4, but gen2x4 is plenty fast for my use case.

Reminder 8gen Intel or newer needed for W11 upgrade and W10 is end of life Oct 2025.

I have 20 workstations that need upgraded over the next 2 years, so doing a couple at a time every few months.

I have had a couple grade B and they have had dents or deep scratches. Grade A look good but not shiny new. I just get whatever grade they have in the model I want, the minor cosmetic issues with the Bs doesn't bother me and they are usually $10-20 less.

YMMV I would say because I got ordered one and they send a non-functional keyboard and asked for a replacement and got a second one with a non-functioning keyboard (even though I asked that it be checked prior to it being sent to me).

Your an a$$hat. Some of the units are old. 8th Gen and newer are fine for these prices. There's plenty of demand for reasonably priced units. I sell thousands of them every year. Been in business almost 30 years. Go away and come back when you growup--threadcrapper.
