I've had bad luck with amazon toners, the drumhead on the various color glitch out and leave streaks or the ink doesn't fuse to the paper in certain spots (because of the drumhead) and I end up having to toss the cartridge at around the 50% utilization mark.

if anyone have had success with non-Canon toners for this, i'd appreciate the heads up.

They probably got more then the starter toner that comes with the printer though too.

Although, canon was nice enough with this printer to bump up the black toner to standard while keeping the color toners at starter.

I would recommend waiting for a deal on a canon GX7021 mega tank printer (or gx6021 if you don't need duplex scanning). They print just as fast and the ink refills are cheap compared to the toner for this. Plus it doesn't have the high amp draw that laser printers do which make your lights flicker all the time.

Same here. Once in a while if i want color print, i just get it from my office. I am still using an all in one brother printer that i got from yard sale. I got a couple of oem toners from thrift stores. The color laser printers are still too costly in my opinion especially the toner cartridges.

I don't have this printer but had similar experience with the 045 toners for my canon printer. I finally just bought the real ones on eBay. Generic toner carts for canon tend to be terribad.

I just bought the mf654cdw for 250$. I tried, but I honestly could not find any comprehensive breakdown to the differences between the canon laser models. Im sure theres a difference, but it seems like you pay 30 dollars more for a higher model number. I stuck with the model that takes the 067 toner, because other toners are almost twice the price. I again tried to find out why other toners, from canon models that look like an identical printer, cost soo much more, and I could not find anything.
