Far from free shipping. I have 5 rods in my cart, and it shows $100 to ship. Credits bring it down to $40 for shipping... No thanks. That's unfortunate

Do not buy the St Croix Bass X. They have a defect at the reel seat. Just read the 1 star reviews at Bass Pro Shop.

St. Croix makes great top of the line rods, but this may be the worst ever. It's a new update from the old Bass X, and it pales in comparison.

The carbon fire is a good budget rod that'll be fine for 90%+ of people.

I build custom high-end rods and own rods from $10 to $700.

Really want to pick up a couple stratus but so many reviews say rod tip too easy to snap.

I was looking at this earlier today and read so many reviews about the reel seat breaking that I decided it wasn't worth it. Examined them really well when you get them, you could always take it back.

Honestly, I think that most of these deals are deals because they are low quality items. Our fishing brain say buy it because it's cheap. It's an easy catch! However, other than the samurai spinning combo, which is always mediocre but does its job, the rest of it is bound to fail.

Agreed. The lews carbon fire reels (and rods) have been on the decline for a while. They were about $30 back in early summer and I picked up the reel back then but not the rods. The reel has been great.

I don't know what the prices have been for the st Croix bass X rods, but I think they had QC issues?

It's like low-mid priced rods aren't made well anymore. I had 2 St.croix triumph 7' rods that broke at the tip in one fishing trip, was only used a couple times before that. It was a couple years ago and paid $25 for 2 tips replacement. Just paid $50 for a replacement (my fault) for the same rod. It was supposed to be $75 but my wife talked them down. Looking at Fenwick hmg, reviewers say easy to break. Same thing with ugly stik gx2. These used to be decent quality. I'm just buying cheap rods now and replace when break, don't have to deal with warranty and headache.

BassX 2021 is solid. I had my reel seat fall apart on my casting rod, but a little epoxy got it put back together no problem. I caught hundreds of large and smallmouth over the last two years, including several 5+ lbs fish on my medium heavy. Great rod at $120, fantastic rod at $50.
Those Lews are nice and light, I like using the spinning in medium light for finesse presentations

They had a Lews Special Black combo for $50. It was sold out but I would have bought 3. Great combo. I bought a few rods including Bass X and 13 Fishing Reel. Nice fishing deal find!!

Ironically I should have excluded the Lews fire rods from my comment. I picked up one of each at $30 in store and love them. Not sure about the reels. But the rods are not available for pickup anywhere around me and shipping seems like a lot of $. I've also had rods shipped from Dicks and show up busted.

ive been fortunate w/ the lews carbon fire and currently my favorite. i just stocked up on a couple status & carbon fire pole before this. im thinking of just contacting Dicks CS for credit vs. return and repurchase now.

i'd like to flush out the various old stuff/combo's I've collected, and just goe w/ the few i really like now, but I have to STOP! 28 poles and only 5 of them I would sell at a garage sale. ;o)
