The St Croixs seem like a steal at that price. Also the Penn Prevail Surf rods are a pretty good deal at $50 each.

I know what you mean lol. The lews carbon fire is good from reviews but I think it's only a 1pc. I need a 2pc for travel. I really want to buy a couple stratus but the reviews scare me.

Fyi, the St Croix rods ship free, but the others do not. I don't know why that is. Maybe the St Croix rods are not considered an oversized item?

I know the Bass X is a lower end St. Croix but isn't $45 a fantastic deal?

This is a good deal so I ordered one of each length for ~$55 shipped. A pack of cigarettes costs about $11 nowadays just for reference. Fishing is healthier than smoking but I'm not the person who can advocate that. LOL.

Do not buy the St Croix Bass X. They have a defect at the reel seat. Just read the 1 star reviews at Bass Pro Shop.

St. Croix makes great top of the line rods, but this may be the worst ever. It's a new update from the old Bass X, and it pales in comparison.

The carbon fire is a good budget rod that'll be fine for 90%+ of people.

I build custom high-end rods and own rods from $10 to $700.

It's like low-mid priced rods aren't made well anymore. I had 2 St.croix triumph 7' rods that broke at the tip in one fishing trip, was only used a couple times before that. It was a couple years ago and paid $25 for 2 tips replacement. Just paid $50 for a replacement (my fault) for the same rod. It was supposed to be $75 but my wife talked them down. Looking at Fenwick hmg, reviewers say easy to break. Same thing with ugly stik gx2. These used to be decent quality. I'm just buying cheap rods now and replace when break, don't have to deal with warranty and headache.
Those are the cheap rods. Try a Dobyns. Lifetime Warranty.
