Looks like T-Mobile is offering a hidden $10 hotspot plan ($15 before Auto pay). This is for consumer and business accounts. It's for BYOD hotspot devices only and connected laptops (so no phones or tablets). Looks like you will have to contact T-Mobile to get this. There will be a $35 activation fee as well. See the attached flyer and link for more info.

Does T-mobile usually grandfather you in or could this plan go away? Seems too good to be true.
Grandfather you in more or less. I had the old free tablet plan years ago. I did have to give it up to change my family plan from Simple Choice to Magenta. If I hadn't changed my plan I would still have it.

I signed up for a brand new account and didn't order any hotspot/device, only SIM card. Got no hard credit pull (so far).
I wonder if the hard pull thing is just for those opting for the free hotspot device (since that involves bill credits)

I got the unlimited plan, should I wait for one of those to come back ($10 all inclusive) or jump on this one (30GB should be enough for 1 cell phone).. thoughts?

for new account only or add a line to an existing account?
I did a new account and it was a hardpull. So not sure for adding line to existing account.

As a new customer? Did they ask for your SSN?

Yeah but they didn't do a credit check, it's for their identity verification service.

Can I get a cell phone plan for cheap, like $10 with calling and text only, and then use this in the second e-sim slot?
You absolutely can. Check Tello..

It was simple, called the number, in my case I called the Costco t-mobile kiosk, asked to be signed up to the MI30TI plan. If you are not a Costco member use the phone number in the wiki, or better yet use the tmobile online chat. If you are a Costco member use 1-833-428-1765
I signed up via 833-428-1765, the rep waved activation fee. Currently I am using their $10 for 2gb prepaid plan, this is a very good deal for me. Thanks OP and all for the info.

got the deal. looking for a hotspot now. Has anyone tried the "generic" version of the Franklin JEXtream RG2100 on Amazon? It is cheaper than what's on eBay, but not sure its worth the $30 savings...

Thanks! Jeez, they use SSN just for identity verification, driver license should be sufficient for that purpose

I just did with T-Mobile's Costco customer line 1-833-428-1765
This was the way to go, tried chat first, that was a mess, this phone number took 10 min, all I have existing is T-mobile home internet.
