Deal Details
Looks like T-Mobile is offering a hidden $10 hotspot plan ($15 before Auto pay). This is for consumer and business accounts. It's for BYOD hotspot devices only and connected laptops (so no phones or tablets). Looks like you will have to contact T-Mobile to get this. There will be a $35 activation fee as well. See the attached flyer and link for more info.

On chat right now and they keep insisting I need an IMEI to activate. Any idea how to get around it? A phone IMEI?

I don't have a hotspot device yet.

Pretty sure you can still get a free Franklin hotspot via the Tmobile Test Drive.

Hey bud, how are you.

I think they stopped that now, they just allow you to add it to your phone for trial or something now..

Well project 10 million still exists. Takes 5 minutes to qualify (only need to live where the school district gives free lunch, which is most major cities). No idea if the device will work for your purpose since it's T-Mobile prepaid though.. pm me

I use Tmob hotspot as I can't get cable/fiber/DSL. I get up to 5 GB at 5G then throttle down and $15 for another 40 GB under the Magenta MAXUp plan.

I got 2 SIMs for 60 GB at the local Costco Tmob booth yesterday with fees waived but no $25 GC as it's only for bring your phone with voice (these SIMS cannot do voice).

Using phone as hotspot eats up battery quickly and for now using LG Velvet 5G connected to outlet.

BTW - would not get too focused on 5G as at times it crawls where I live and wifes's iPhone 12 Pro is lot faster than my Samsung or LG.

If you just need a holdover IMEI until you can get your own and update with that, you could probably just do a photo / image search for "Franklin T9 hotspot IMEI" or whatever random old hotspot and find images showing some IMEIs. Obviously, you wouldn't want them to actually activate on that, but it should give you time so they have something in their system as a placeholder, wothout actually have any effect as long as it's prior to activation.

Don't tell anyone, but you can just go on ebay, look up a hotspot for sale of the type you want/need and borrow the IMEI.

got the deal. looking for a hotspot now. Has anyone tried the "generic" version of the Franklin JEXtream RG2100 on Amazon? It is cheaper than what's on eBay, but not sure its worth the $30 savings...
I ordered this one, 90 day return policy:

No, it's $15 before Auto pay. $10 with (plus taxes).
NO, this is unlimited internet throttled after 30 gigs.
$15 a month - $5 autopay discount = $10 a month taxes included.
