I thought I knew more about audio than the average audiophile, but you are over my head. I only know nitrates as fertilizers and preservatives linked with gastrointestinal cancers. What are we talking about nitrates here?

Higher quality DAC higher nitrate source can sound better.

Edit: leaving original for comedic value, but I definitely meant bitrate not nitrate.

This looks cool, but if you just want a streamer, wiim and blue sound are your huckleberry.

Actual review with measurements (like always, manually remove the space in the link below )

If this is too salty look to Bluesound for around $400. If still too salty then Wiim Pro for around $150.
Or just pick up a chromecast audio for $50 on ebay or get an ieast oleo for about the same price if you need Airplay2, Amazon MRM and such. Or the basic Wiim Puck.

Highly doubt most people's ears will appreciate the sound quality difference or have the equipment to notice an appreciable difference.

And take that with a grain of salt as measuring devices do not equate to real world listening. Like people picking apart test pattern issues on tv's that can't be seen in real viewing content.

A manufacturer set up double blind listening test. Yep. Not sus at all 🤣
So strap on a pair. Buy this and and a Wiim. Have your significant other do an A/B test with you wearing a blindfold. Then come back and give us the results.

That is not going to work if there is a difference in output levels between the devices. For the test to be accurate, the devices must level-matched to 0.1dB at the speaker or headphone, due to the human brain perceiving louder sounds as "better". But we both know it doesn't really matter, because if most people could distinguish those small differences, mp3 would have not lasted for more than a week.

I'll gently disagree with those types of 'blanket' answers.

Most people have no way of doing any type of meaningful ABX testing. At most, they might be able to do real world listening with only a couple of products.

So it's better for them to buy a product that correctly functions on the test bench.

Since I personally consider Streamer products as 'disposable tech' that will be replaced every few years as newer formats are introduced, I use the WiiM Streamer .

We saw the new DMPA8 at a resent show, so soon we will have even 'better' choices...

These posts are why I NEVER post audiophile deals on Slickdeals. Mostly smarta$$ comments from people about prices being absurdly high and other uneducated comments about audiophile products they know nothing about. This is a hobby like any other. Leave your negative comments to yourselves. This forum is about getting the best deal on products at the moment, and this is the cheapest I have seen this product advertised!

And if I hear no difference? Word gets out and the entire DAC hobbyist market collapses? Lol. These are the same folks that think a 3ft long audiophile power cable makes an audible improvement after the power has traveled miles through whatever cables the electric co. had on hand when they built the infrastructure.
The DAC hobbyist's world rides on snake oil.

What are you using for dsd transport?
My Mac, a Synology NAS, files are played DoP via USB to a topping balanced DAC with Audirvana software player. Nearfield system with KEF LS50s and a Parasound A23+ amp.

Would I notice any improvement in audio quality using this vs. the built in DAC on my almost 5 year old Denon 3400? I would be streaming Tidal's highest quality service that I am currently unable to decode with HEOS.

However, he is right, the testbench is like getting a list of ingredients for a dish, it does not tell you how the final product will taste. Measuring well is one thing but the most important is sounding well. Most tube amps do not measure well but the best sound I get for my speakers or headphones are from some of these "low performing" tube amps. Conversely. Cheap brands like SMSL and Topping have some of the best measuring amps, yet their sound is nothing special to my ears. Until they get to measure like the human ear, measurements will continue to be of a very limited value.

Not in reality, but you'll think you do because we're human.

You can get these for this price any time AliExpress runs a coupon code.

It's important for people to discuss the quality of any product as that is what ultimately determines if something is indeed a slick deal. A bad product being less expensive is still a bad product.

There's an audience for this, but it's really not much better than a Wiim Pro (except for the screen).

Measuring well means they are transparent and are not flavoring the sound. This is exactly what you want. Your music should only be colored by the mastering and your speakers or headphones. Everything else besides an EQ should stay out of the way.

Bought one of these when they were first released and love it. Great SQ, convenience, and love the screen. It is connected a Roon endpoint in my home theater setup. No bugs or issues and very easy to use. That said, if you don't need a screen, you could also do something somewhat similar with a WiiM pro plus for cheaper (have that in my bedroom).
