I'm hoping you just forgot to add */s* at the end of your second sentence?
You'll have to use the browser to purchase books from Amazon.
It's been a while since we can't purchase digital media including kindle books from the Amazon app. Google only allows their payment methods for apps downloaded through Google Play Store, so Amazon removed the option to purchase books.
