I bought this kit last week. Items seems okay. But the packaging and some minor scratches and dust on tools makes you think they're used or they've been on shelves long time. Didn't come in original Makita packaging.
Could be a reason for frequent return. Hope that helps.
I've seen it a few times recently but it's hard to know if it's indicating the same exact item or something else, just like how Amazon and HomeDepot anymore tends to group reviews for different items together.

I have both this 3/8" impact and its brushless equivalent. Both are awesome. Plenty of power for 3/8" sockets. I love the lightweight since much of my work is overhead. I don't have this brushed version, but I have the brushless. It, too, is awesome. The 12V line isn't the most powerful, but it gives you great control and precision.
I have the brushless LXTs (the bigger pro version), but I also have a number of CXT tools. They are both very good. What you give up in terms of battery duration and raw power you gain in terms of extremely low tool cost and weight savings.
For the average homeowner you can't go wrong with CXT tools. very low cost and it's not like you're going to be framing all day.
btw, the cxt hand vac is one of my favorite all around the house tools.
How does this compared to the Milwaukee m12 deal one?
Different ergos. The Milwaukee has a fatter grip. The Makita has a very slim handle. Also a lot less tools available for the cxt vs the M12. I gave away all my CXT stuff once I went M12.
How does this compare to the 12v dewalt or Milwaukee stuff? Is it more powerful? More compact? I've seen the dewalt 12v combo anywhere from $99 to $120(current price) on eBay NIB and Milwaukee w hack $125. They don't come with the chintzy lookin light that looks like those 3rd party lights on ebay, Amazon or Temu for $5-10. I've heard good things about makita but if the dewalt stuff or Milwaukee is just as good I think it makes more sense to go that Rout since they have many more 12v tools you can utilize the batteries for down the road.

It really depends on what you are going to do and what your budget is.
For most homeowners, it doesn't really matter. Just buy the cheapest out of the major brands like M12, Bosch, DeWalt, or Makita.
But the M12 line is the most popular.
The advantages of Makita is best ergo(slim handle), best trigger feel(depends on the model). Makita is still a Japanese company and has Japanese production standards. Makita tools last the longest.
I just got the M12, Bosch 12v, and the Makita LXT/Subcompact. All great tools.
