I have so many shampoos. I never understand why companies sell conditioner containers the same size as shampoo. In my house we use shampoo:conditioner 1:5.
The shampoo/conditioner also has a 15% coupon you can click when you pick the non-subscribe and save option which also stacks with the 20% and stacks with the subscirbe and save. So swap to non subscribe and save and click 15% coupon, swap back to subscribe and save and click 20% coupon, and then use subscribe and save. It's slightly worse than the conditioner alone for value, but a nice way to get both at a good price:

Thanks digitalneptune for telling us about the possibly of two coupons!

It depends on your hair. Your cut length and whether you use product will determine if you'll see significant benefit from higher-end shampoo/conditioners.

Back when I had a Caesar cut and used fiber, it didn't matter much what I used. Once I went to a side part with a little length and stopped using product, it became much more important. I tried a variety of brands (Suave, V05, TRESemme, Crew, Redken, etc.), and Nexxus made my hair significantly softer and shinier than the rest, so I've used it ever since.

This is a solid deal if you're needing to make up the usage difference between shampoo and conditioner, but if you're wanting to try both, you might wait for the combo [amazon.com] to go on sale. My most recent purchase was $24 in April, but anything under $30 is decent.
It's actually for my mom who has shorter hair and she never uses any products. She's elderly and spent most of her life just using Suave or other basic brands. I'm trying to get her some nicer stuff so I first picked up a set of Loreal and then TRESemme but she hasn't started on the latter yet. To her, it's all very nice stuff as she's not at all picky.

I actually did go ahead and order that combo you linked doing the double coupon clipping trick so it's set up on S&S now in order to lock in the price but I can still cancel it. I'm paying $20 for the two.

Personally, I get a buzz #2 cut so my hair is so short I could probably get by with body wash! LOL. I don't ever use conditioner as my hair tends to be oily. Completely unrelated, but my favorite was American Crew but the last time I bought some here the smell was completely different and not at all good so I ended up asking for a refund and not using it. I never did figure out if it was just that one bottle that somehow got messed up or they changed the formula on me and ordering more would not solve the problem. I'm not really picky on anything other than how it smells and it being concentrated. A 33oz bottle of American Crew would last me months and months with very short hair and only needing a couple drops.

So, for someone like me who doesn't know anything at all about hair care products like shampoo and conditioner, which is better, L'Oreal, Tresemme or Nexxus? Or is each product line so vast and having products varyiny in quality that you can't compare the brands?
I have extremely thick, long, curly hair. Being in my 50's, I've tried almost every product out there for hair care. Of the three brands you mentioned, I prefer Nexxus, Tressemme and Loreal in that order. I don't like Loreal much and rarely use it unless I have no choice. Nexxus Humectress is excellent, and I've used it for many years. Tressemme is quite good and much loved by those on a budget. In my early 20's it was a go-to brand and it's still going strong years later. I use it if I can't find Humectress on sale.

I just saw your comment about your mom. My one concern would be the size and weight of these bottles. They look like they are super easy to use but it will depend on whether or not they fit where your mom needs them. You might have to switch them to smaller bottles.

Ok, thanks for your advice. The Nexxus set of shampoo and conditioner I ordered are pumps and if they are the same size as the quart size Loreal that she's using now, then she shouldn't have to pick up the bottles, right? I appreciate your consideration.

BTW, you're saying Tresemme is budget shampoo, got me to checking on the set that I bought before. Shows I bought 3 bottles of the TRESemmé Shampoo Smooth and Silky for $5 but currently this set is $15 with a 15% coupon. That stuff has really went up! Its still cheaper than the Nexxus as the Tresemme bottles are 28oz. The other thing I forgot is it's all shampoo without any conditioner. I'll probably just have my mom switch to the Nexxus when the Loreal runs out. Shampoo doesn't really go bad does it? I used to stock up on American Crew when their 33oz bottles would go on sale 2 for $20 and I'm not even kidding when I tell you I've used Crew shampoo that's 10 years old and it smelled exactly the same and seemed just fine. Thanks, again. Smilie

In my opinion, tressemme is the first step down for people who want, Crew, Nexxus, Biolage, Paul Mitchell level stuff but cannot afford it. It's medium range cost and very good product.

Tresemme has a lawsuit for hair fallout.
