This is a healthy forum. What you buy is up to you but please don't bring politics/religious prejudices here. I wonder why people don't stop using Facebook, Google, etc which are owned by people from a certain faith. Selective boycott I guess. Peace <3
Thank God I have around 17 pairs of Gel lytes and alike. Mostly gel lyte 3s and a few gel lyte Vs . Alongside some MT / MIDS with winter lining.
the Collab Gel lyte 3s feel like super high quality, but the plain ones feel a lot more like cardboard and have less give.
50$ is still better quality than what Nike will give you around the 80/100$ mark. Then there is the whole thing with boycott companies that support Israel. Not to make this a political post, but I stopped myself from buying from converse due to this (owned by Nike so on and so forth).

So is a no go? QC is not good anymore? Was thinking of buyin 2 as Xmas gifts for my father.
I have purchased several GR (general release) pairs of Gel Lyte IIIs this year direct from Asics. Quality is on point and while the materials and overall quality won't blow you away like some collaborations with other companies, Asics GRs are typically pretty well made and comfortable
What exactly was the problem? I own several Gel Lyte IIIs and have never had an issue. This is a pretty good price.
Aren't the Gel Lytes more of a nostalgia fashion line than a running shoe now, like Air Jordan 1s are more for fashion than ball?
That said, I still use other lines of Asics as running shoes. The trademark support on the side is just for looks now, but the shoes seem fine. That is, I think they give you what you order, so to speak.
Wow those OGs really do look like Lytes from the 80s all the way to the treads…

I had a pair 20 years ago and loved them. Has the quality gone down?
Time was, any cheap pair of Asics would be comfy and extremely durable. Their fit was super reliable too, I could order any pair of Asics without trying them on...true to size and generous for width. Either their quality has gone down, or my old, fat ass is just harder on them. The last two pairs of lower-end Asics I owned might as well have been Prowings from Payless...just garbage. Uncomfortable from day one, and lasted only 4 or 5 months before the sole lost all form, and holes developed. Maybe their "$140" shoes are still quality, but I will certainly never find out..

I picked up a pair of gel 9 excites from kohls on clearance in January, and they are my favorite pair of shoes. I've done light running in them, played some tennis and pickleball, and wear them almost every day as my regular shoes. They've held up great, and are probably the most comfortable shoe I can recall owning. So it might come down to the different models, but I certainly wouldn't write off Asics based on my experience with this particular shoe.

I never had a pair until a couple months ago. They are very comfy. I have like 12 pairs of running shoes and these are my go-to's. The split tongue makes them easy to slip on. I'd buy another pair if these colors weren't so ugly.
But yeah, I'm not running in them
