I'm a sucker when it comes to mech kb. This is a great deal for a kb with usb pass thru and volume wheel.

A few different things.

1) "Cheap keyboard" versus "brand name," I would consider Roccat a brand, versus any house brand or Amazon marketplace brand.

2) Mechanical switches versus optical switches. Some have a preference. I've never tried optical, but at $50 I'm considering. You never know until you get your fingers on them.

3) Quality versus preference. Quality is if the key switches last a long time and you don't get failures. Preference is "I like lighter actuation" or "I like clickier."

In for one. Brown is my ideal, and Walmart shows free returns.

If you never had a mech, its a good starter. But once you've gone quality you can't go back. Even if the company uses the same color and switches

Example, my first mech is the one I'm typing on right now. A razer blackwidow chroma TKL cherry blue that I bought in 2021. I needed a keyboard with TK for work, so I jumped on the AOC with cherry blue that was on here for black friday. I immediately return the AOC after a couple days. Even though it had cherry blues, the keys weren't the same. My razer has a quality and consistent feel to it that the AOC lacked.

side note, nothing beats cherry blue for typing.

I had Rosewill from newegg before. It's broken in one year. I won't touch this branch anymore.

I'm not overly familiar with this board, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong... This keyboard does not appear to have hot-swappable switches. Most (all?) Redragon boards would have hot-swappable switches. You COULD still swap the switches but it would involve de/re-soldering instead of just pulling. Also, and everyone has different tastes here, there are essentially two different popular form factors for switches. There is outemu, which this keyboard has. Then there is cherry/gateron/kailh for the other. Even though the switches work basically the same way, the pins of the switches that fit in an outemu board are thinner. Unfortunately, you cannot put cherry/gateron/etc. switches in a hot-swappable board of this type without modifying/sanding down every pin of every switch that you would be putting in. I would suggest (in my humble opinion) to only buy this board if you plan to leave it unmodified and use it as-is.
Agreed. I had an old Varmilo BT keyboard and wanted to see if I could replace the MX Cherry blues with a silent switch to avoid the sideways glances at the coffee shop. Between the MillMax sockets, and new switches, I could have just bought a new, wireless, hot swappable pre-built. But, I was looking for a project to work on soldering skills (and give me a break from grading).

Cancelled my Lenovo order for a Logitech G213 Prodigy Gaming for this one. Nothing can beat a real mech keyboard, especially blue, I love the blue switches. This will go in my gaming den for when I switch spaces into my direct plug-in Ethernet.

This looks close to some of the Corsair models, any chance their software (icue) will work on it?

just received these and can attest that they are below average for typing. I also bought the aoc with cherry blues and they are far superior. I can actually feel the click when typing while the otemus are very linear which is typical of non brand name keyboards out there. pros are it has two usb passthrough and aoc takes two usb ports to make the one onboard one work

Walmart still has the K50 for $30

But there's also K90. Anyone know the difference and which is better?
