On top of all of this , there is another controversy that the majority of the reviews on IMDB are using fake burner acccounts. Padding up the review count and score so that people will be more apt to "claim" a "free" ticket which isn't really free but instead being paid by some poor sap who was on the Angel studios benefactor list and has decided to donate continual sums of money to buy tickets for others who believe this whole system is just totally free.
Very weird situation for sure, remember there is no such thing as a free lunch, someone is paying for this stuff.
The issue is that Sound of Freedom gained more attention than they were expecting. The studio has become pretty popular in the Christian community and they heavily promoted the film, which led to some strong numbers the opening weekend. Then it got media attention about the unexpected box office and the controversies that surrounded it (which had nothing to do with the studio itself). It also brought out the conspiracy nuts trying to use the film to prove their conspiracies (from Disney shelving it to the ridiculousness of showings being canceled to keep people from seeing it). All of which the studio tried to fight back against. I can't speak about the reviews. But that seems to be happening with a lot of movies. Either they make a bunch of fake reviews to keep people from seeing it (which has been definitely been affecting a lot of Disney made films because of their "woke" agenda, according to some) or promoting films like Sound of Freedom which was tied into their conspiracies. I wouldn't doubt it is coordinated, but I don't think it's from Angel Studios.
It's got a 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is being padded with fake reviews from burner accounts from people who have obviously never even seen the film.

2. They have never really said they were some non-profit company. In fact, they sale memberships into the company, using that money as investment in return for shares in the company. Those people received $1.20 for every $1 they invested into Sound of Freedom. They have always considered themselves a for-profit company, even if others have many misunderstood that. They've just gotten their money from investors and people willing to donate instead of selling their content (although, again, I'm not sure how their licensing deals are with other streaming services). This has, admittedly, changed with their theatrical releases. Although Sound of Freedom was the only one, so far, that's done anything significant. But their purpose in "paying it forward" with their theatrical releases is to allow people to pay for someone else who may not otherwise pay to see the movie. How will they invest the money they made from Sound of Freedom? Time will only tell. The Shift was made way before Sound of Freedom came into play, so of course the money from SoF wouldn't have been used to make that movie. And I doubt they'll just now start offering everything for free just because they have that sudden influx as I'd be surprised to see their movies continue to make that much.
3. You're also accusing them (with no evidence) of padding their movies with fake reviews. I already told you that there are coordinated efforts out there by some conservative groups to mess with movie reviews. It's mostly been in the negative attacking movies and TV shows in order to hurt them. I wouldn't doubt it was the same coordinated effort to pad Sound of Freedom with positive reviews. Although, on the other hand, I haven't been able to find anything saying (not less proving) the reviews were padded with fake reviews. Either way, you have no evidence that it was the studio coordinating that effort to create fake reviews.
