Obviously we disagree. The good news is you don't have to buy it.

If you're not looking to spend $800 on a robot vacuum, those same discounts should also apply to the Roborock Q7 Max+. It's currently on an even better sale than the s7 max ultra ($370 off, 43% off) at $500 without applying any discounts or offers, and is not that huge of a downgrade compared to the s7 max ultra. After 15% off followed by 5% off it'd be $403.74, literally half the price of the s7 max ultra.

I've had the S7 MaxV Ultra for most of the year. It runs daily and remains the single best way we've ever spent $1000. In all of that time it's gotten stuck on something, or accidentally locked itself in a room, about 5 or 6 times. We often get alerts about objects avoided.
It's not perfect though, so we do make an effort to keep our floors generally tidy and clear so the vacuum can do its thing.

I got the S7 on sale for $400, and surprisingly the mop works well. I didn't see the need to spend $600 more for the huge dock when all I have to do is throw the mop pads in the wash and fill a water tank which takes 30 secs. The tank can go 1000sqft on deep clean before I even need to fill it.

The Ultra dock does not make sense unless you can hook it up to a water supply and drain, at least not for more than double the cost.
That's what I thought about my S7 until I got this. You're right, a simple 1-2 min task. But now I don't wash pads because it washes and dries the pads VERY well. Is the return on investment to time saved worth it?. Depends on how you value you time. Has the upgrade in suction power really made a difference? With carpet, tile, pets, and kids...YES.

I work in finance. I like to see people being smart with their money. It's not the price that's the issue. It's the value.

Price is what you pay, value is what you get.

If you're spending $1000 on a vacuum, shouldn't it remove the necessity of having to remove items from being stuck in the robot? It's supposed to be advanced? even has a camera, and STILL can't avoid objects. Given the alternatives, at cheaper prices, it doesn't justify the price for differential in performance. It's like buying Tesla stock over Stellantis. One is overvalued and doesn't perform much better than the other, at all.
Are you even talking about the right vacuum? It doesn't have a camera (old models did, this one does not (security concerns)). We don't have a problem with our vac getting stuck, because we're not heathens leaving stuff all over the place. To your value comments, value is in the eye of the beholder, and I happen to value my time. As for your stock picks, you sound like one of the short sellers that's gotten burned trying to short Tesla.

Why do you care if I care? Do you not see the credit card delinquency rate and utilization shooting up? Move on Scott! don't buy this robot. It's no bueno.
Why do you care that I care that you care? Delinquency rates has nothing to do with this robot; that's a people spend problem. If this robot cumulatively saves me 1hr a week from cleaning the mopping pads, bin empty and general robot servicing, it's easily worth the $1k price tag in the long run. Coming from someone with no debt and messy cats, this is a no-brainer for me.

But it does not take 1 hour per week, because I know I do it. Maybe 5 mins at most per week and I have my S7 clean 4000sqft a week. Literally just toss it in the laundry and I have like 10 mop pads to rotate. And the S7 also auto empties the bin as well so I do not have to do that.

With the Ultra you still have to fill up the water tank and empty the dirty water, so really it saves very little if any time..

If 5 mins a week is too much then your time would be worth enough to pay a cleaning person at that point.

So, you think people who buy this overpriced robot don't have a spending problem?
From your perspective, you're assuming the robot is overpriced. I just told you it saves me 1hr/wk cumulatively over my last robot. The peace of mind knowing I can count on it not getting stuck over the weekend while I'm away or having confidence it will not spread cat food all over the floor is worth it.
Like I said, I have no debt and am a thrifty mf'er. You cant classify people as spenders just because they see value in something utilitarian.

I dont like including the mop pads in the wash unless it's the floor mats (which I wash monthly), so it's more like 5-10m emptying the bin(prior bot didnt have a base station) scrubbing the pads and prepping the water and solution. I guess I could have streamlined the process by buying $50 worth of pads, but that still doesn't address the peace of mind I get from knowing the bot hasnt eaten sh!t, toys or cat food while I'm away.
To each their own.

PS: The price delta between the Ultra and Plus model is roughly $140 on their ebay page. The added functionality is still worth it in my case

This vacuum is a scam. I recommend buyers wait at least a year for significant improvements in AI before purchasing this. It'll be outdated In a year.

Any idea how the S8 Plus compares? This naming scheme on these is wild. I suspect S7 Pro ULTRA mega 5000 is better than just... Plus, but S8 is higher...

I tried to look it up, but it seems to be comparisons with the S8 Pro Ultra, not seeing a lot on the Plus. Based on a Reddit comment, sounds like the Plus may be missing the mop cleaner at the base, which would be nice to have since we are looking to do this on a full main floor of hard flooring and three pets.

Some people save 70% of their earnings and invest them. They can still buy this robot and many more things if they want.
The simple answer: they have higher earnings….ouch.

The Ultra has to do with the dock (water empty/refill, mop clean/drying). The Plus model is just the vacuum dock and both S8 models appear to have the same "AI" sensing equipment on board.

The S7 MaxV(V stands for vision; not to be confused with the Max that this thread is about!) has the RGB camera along with all the hardware included in the S8. However, the S8 is almost as good as the MaxV at avoiding obstacles and "may" improve or surpass it with future updates.

TL;DR: The S8 Plus is still leaps and bounds ahead of the S7 Max Ultra robot when it comes to smart navigation. If that is more important to you than the mop service station, the S8+ is the way to go for you(or S7 MaxV Plus/Ultra if you can find them for less)

Roborock Q7 Max+ or Deebot T10 Omni from Costco? Which is best for LVP flooring on 1st floor with two 8x10 rugs in living and dining area with open floor plan? Need both vaccum and mopping floor decently.

I was also unlucky because mine arrived with all three top buttons pushed in and not working. Glad I saved the box. Fingers crossed they send me a good one this time.
Very interesting to see they have such a big quality control difference
