Bought one overseas in 12/2018, thing was a champ. Cranked out 4+ shots per day, for 3 years STRAIGHT. Bought another for work, from the clearance isle, it never really worked quite right, but acceptable for cappuccinos. Came back stateside 2022 and bought one, worked mediocre for almost a year and then broke. Switched to a Breville Barista Express and never looked back. Delonghi must have changed something with their components or something because the newer models seem weak. I'd get another machine in a heartbeat if they'd put better pumps/heating elements/etc.
Got this last year from Sams Club - has been awesome and it has become part of my morning ritual. I use it primarily for espresso, the milk steamer works fine as well, but I don't use it.

Same purchased last year at Sam's. Overall works well for her but it's a pain to clean and descale. I can see her replacing it for some automatic machine soon

I've had and enjoyed one of these for at lease 5 years. Daily coffee for two. Pros - easy to use, predictable outcomes, and both low and slim profile - fits under counter cupboards nicely. I have the matching grinder. Steam wand works fine, nothing overly intense.

Descaling is not intuitive and is time consuming and messy, but of course it's only every few months.

I'll probably keep this until it breaks, but I'm really looking for something with better internals.

I'm confused, what's manual about this? I thought I'd be pumping manually, I was like, that's would be a steal at this price if the machine works for an old school manual-pull. Obviously this is not that, so what's "manual" about this machine? Amazon lists EC685M (this machine's model number) as "Automatic Espresso Machine," what am I missing here?

What exactly is the problem with the "internals?" Y'all getting leaks or what? Anyone know if there's a lower pressure mod for this machine?

used my delonghi dedica (EC680) for about 3-4 years every day to make 2 Capuccinos and had no issues; it is still working but is now in storage, because we are moving. Kept it very clean, descaling once in 4-5 months; Had no problems at all.

Costco's description is incorrect. To be fair, DeLonghi calls it "manual", so I guess it's DeLonghi's error, not Costco. The only thing manual about it is the milk frother, and that may be what they're referring to.

It's an automatic because you press a button and the shot is made. The pump stops automatically after the shot is done, either by time or by volume (I think this Dedica has volumetric dosing, which is cool). Semi-autos are pretty much the same, but you have to stop the shot manually by shutting it off when the shot is done. The machine keeps pumping till you shut it off. Manual espresso machines are lever machines where pulling the lever forces hot water through the portafilter under pressure, and you lift the lever when it is done. Superautomatic's do it all with a push of a button.

I don't think the machine pressure is easily "mod"able, but it is doable. The question is, is it worth it? This guy has a ton of videos on the Dedica. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_SKyuzpejs

Looks like same price at Amazon, if you clip the $40 coupon... "Temporarily Out of Stock" but you can still order. https://www.amazon.com/Delonghi-E...B06WGTZ874

Reddit reviews look decent, esp. if you do some mods/replace the basket:

Appreciate the feedback but the Breville Barista Express is over 400% the cost of this one, hard to compare though it helps to possibly not buy this one due to the lack of functionality.

The Dedica EC685M is the nicer/better machine. It has a slimmer and a more modern form factor, and just looks better IMO. Plus it has volumetric dosing, meaning you can program the buttons to dispense a specific amount of espresso, and it will remember it. You'll get the same volume shot, even if the grind varies a little at the push of a button. It automatically stops when the shot is done. With the ECP3620 you have to stop your shot by manually shutting it off as soon as your shot is done.
