Years ago I had Spectrum add a second building unit to their system at my in-laws' address. They already had service, and I signed up for service at the new sub-address and then connected the modem to the line at my house (both properties were pretty close - otherwise this may not have worked). Their neighborhood had ATT fiber available so their prices were much lower due to the competition. I now have fiber from a local provider at my house, but my in-laws use the sub-address to sign up for new service any time the promotion at the main address runs out, and vice versa. They can overlap by a few days and never have downtime between switching contracts. I just had to tell them I'm renting a room and want my own service to get the sub unit added. Of course, when I used the service at my house I couldn't call for service outages that affected my line only, but I was lucky and never had issues while I had that setup.

Leave and come back? It's super annoying, but I was paying $80 for spectrum, went to T-Mobile 5G HI for $50 and then went back to Spectrum and now I'm paying $40.

I was on Spectrum for 6 years because they were the only game in town. Terrible company. Just cancelling was a big hassle. They offered me things to stay and didn't honor it lol.

They also have a history of slowly jacking up your rate - hoping you won't notice it or you will be too lazy to switch it even if you notice. Watch your bill constantly.

I was on T-Mo for over a year because it worked fine. I saw the offer from Spectrum and T-Mo wouldn't match so I cancelled it.
