Curious why the quick down votes? Agree that it isn't the lowest price but they are pretty close to the prices last time these made frontpage.

S7 MaxV Ultra was $736 when it made front page not too long ago. https://slickdeals.net/f/16994833-roborock-robot-vacuums-refurbished-s7-maxv-ultra-736-q7-max-368-q5-176-more-free-s-h?

Save your money and aggravation on buying a MaxV. They sent me two defective units. They are not refurbishing them. And they wont do anything for the time and aggravation aside from sending you a another refurbished unit. I can see it happening once, but twice? The first unit got errors for the cleaning brush, which was cockeyed. The second unit had wheel errors.

Oh wow. I've heard lots of good reviews of their refurbished units from eBay n the past. Thanks for sharing that the quality of their refurbished units may have changed.

That's fair. Figured it was close enough in case folks missed the prior deal.

I'll get DV'ed, but still think it's worth reading:

"In external communication, which is much more relevant for attacks, three out of four test candidates in the test lab demonstrated decent defensive behavior. Not only Dyson and iRobot but also the Kobold from Vorwerk rely on TLS encryption for communication in its secure version 1.2 with connected cloud services and for data exchange between cloud and app. On the Roborock, however, the testers encountered partially unencrypted wireless transmission. That is because the Xiaomi vacuum cleaner also uses partially unencrypted UDP connections for external communication. This traffic can be intercepted and manipulated, e.g. within the scope of a man-in-the-middle attack. In addition, there were potential vulnerabilities in TLS-encrypted connections. Due to insufficient verification of certificates on encrypted connections, the testers were able to manipulate data streams and read their contents.

It should be noted that Roborock, like all other Xiaomi smart home products, is controlled from a central app. This means that attackers may not only gain access to the robot vacuum but also to more critical smart home components from the manufacturer. These may include smoke detectors, window/door contacts or IP cameras. For example, this would open up the potential to sabotage the fire alarm in an apartment, spy on residents by a camera or shut down the burglar alarm. Controlling all smart home components from one app is indeed extremely convenient, yet this applies not only to users but also to attackers. The Chinese smart home giant should therefore endeavor to eliminate the existing security gaps in data communications, especially because it is expected that another heavyweight in the smart home market will open its rapidly growing product range for the Xiaomi network…"

Bought the S7 MaxV Ultra via eBay Refurbished over a month ago and very happy with it. I'm pretty sure the vacuum and dock both were brand new. Vacuum showed no cleaning history. I paid $736 so this is almost the same price.

I did buy the S7 Max Ultra before this one. Returned it due to getting caught on items in my house. This one has a real camera and it makes a big difference. Highly recommend this refurbished one over a non "V" one.

Might be worth putting the date of the assessment. From what I recall this was back in 2019. I can't confirm whether that's been updated, but I'd assume that four years later that would have been updated to leverage tls 1.2 which is the gold standard for data transmission security (at least until tls 1.3 gets heavily adopted). This was however back when roborock was just starting to compete with roomba and was a relatively no name brand vs now. The safest thing to do for ANY IoT device is to have it segmented from your network. The easiest way to do this for non technical people is to leverage a guest network on your router for all IoT. There are also various other methods which google can help point you in the correct direction.

Was it on Slickdeals? I don't think I have ever seen a S7 MaxV Ultra for less than $700.

Are you sure it wasn't for the S7 Max Ultra? (without the V)

Similar experience to what others have said. I'm on my 3rd refurb unit from them and am having to again send it back as it came with an error.

Has anyone tried updated S/N for the SquareTrade Allstate warranty plan? Since they keep sending me replacement units, the listed S/N for the warranty plan is now different…so something else trying to work through right now.
