credit pull to save $50? These financing deals need to be banned from slickdeals.
I currently have an AM4 motherboard and was waiting on a good deal for a 5800X3D (currently on an older R5 3600 X from 2019) ... Is it worth it to get this and an AM5 motherboard? Or should I wait for a ~250ish deal on the 5800X3D and keep my current motherboard?

Edit: Ahhh I did it, pulled the trigger, came out to $326 after tax. Now I have to justify a new motherboard purchase to the wife lol
I mean, you're also gonna need ddr5 RAM and probably a better PSU too.

The process was pretty quick and they added on $12 in interest over the smallest period that I could make it, which was 3 months at ~$107 with $32 down (the max I could do). So in actuality, the price is $317 since you have to use Affirm, but that's $35 better than Amazon so it's still a pretty decent deal.

Plus OP should mention that it comes with the Avatar game as well, nice little bonus for me.

This is an excellent cpu for gaming. Make sure you look into doing a slight "undervolt" using the PBO feature in BIOS in order to reduce temps and increase performance.

I used it last year when they had this for the 5800x3d, You can pay it off right away for almost no interest. Checking it now, I paid 17c in interest. It does a soft credit check so if you're concern about that then I guess this isn't for you.

The app is a soft pull, but they do report as a new account on your EXP credit report.

Short answer, if you move to a 5800X3D you'll still have massive gains over the R5 3600X without the need to replace memory and motherboard. GamersNexus has a video [youtube.com] showcasing the uplift in performance if you're using an older Ryzen chip and purchase a newer one. So if you want to save some money and are content otherwise with your system, it's the cheapest way to get more of your existing system.

the R5 3600 X is 95W. and 7800X 3d is 120W.
yes it is more, but if your PSU requires update for just 25W extra, you probably doing it wrong in the first place.
