I currently have an AM4 motherboard and was waiting on a good deal for a 5800X3D (currently on an older R5 3600 X from 2019) ... Is it worth it to get this and an AM5 motherboard? Or should I wait for a ~250ish deal on the 5800X3D and keep my current motherboard?

Edit: Ahhh I did it, pulled the trigger, came out to $326 after tax. Now I have to justify a new motherboard purchase to the wife lol

I had the 5950x from launch and resold it, returned the 5800x3d so not bad.

Only in esports titles. Most other games you're gpu limited.

It's faster in any game and drastically better in any cpu bound games. If you're pushing high fps 144+ then you need a 3d processor.

For those who own AM4 MOBO, Rumor is that AMD is releasing another 5xxx series 3D CPU soon. No it won't be better than top end AM5 cpus but better than upgrading and spending more $$$$

Right? If we're counting financing, get the WF 2% card + 200 statement credit for $500 spend. Go to microcenter and get the 7800x3d + b650-pro + 32gb ddr5 for $470. Tax brings it over 500 so it'll be $300 when you're done.
