thanks for posting this OP

It looks like $6 shipping and handling if you don't have prime (I didn't actually place an order, see below, just went through the motions to try and get some more info)

On the one hand for $18 total you really can't complain (less if you have amazon prime).. on the other hand.. well this is a subject of debate but I've been told the PSU tier list is something you should consult before buying a power supply

https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

and if you press "control " and the "F " key on your keyboard at the same time and search for "thermaltake" it will eventually pop up the thermaltake PSU's that fall under the "Tier F replace immediately" power supplies and if I'm understanding correctly (could be wrong) the Thermaltake White brand falls into the tier F category

I could be wrong about it being the white category too ! The OP listed it as $40 normally and I found this on amazon

https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltak...B014W3EM2W

which is $40.. strangely woot doesn't supply the model number for the power supply which would help a lot.

There's another thermaltake smart power supply that falls into the category "E" for avoid too

Having said that before knowing about the cultist power supply rating thing I had bought a power supply they rated "E" which lasted me for quite a while ..

for $12, I think its a great deal. Some decent cards and CPUs dont use too much power.

As an example the 4070 uses 200w max, and the Ryzen 7000 series non-x use less than 100 watts.

with that said, i wouldn't push these bottom shelf psus even close to their limit. i would also definitely not pair this with a 4070. if you can afford a 4070, get a quality psu.

i ordered one as a backup. maybe for pc testing, for a backup nas, or for a family htpc.

it can definitely serve as a daily driver, just don't cheap out on psus for mission critical tasks or for a pc where you spent a lot of money on everything else.

That's insane! Great price.

The PSU list is lame. Don't be dumb and try to use this to power 13th gen i9 / 50 core / 10ghz OC with liquid nitrogen, 200gb of ram and dual 4090s…

Probably good for a 12th/13th gen i3, or 6 core i5-12400 and a 1660 Super or rx6600. I don't know if I'd go any higher… 🤷 ♂️

Just cause it has two 8 pin PCIe connectors don't mean it's powering any gpu that needs two 8 pins…

Grabbed one as a backup. The PSU tier list seems very elitist. I'm not sure there is even anything at this wattage in the list that would be recommended and if there is it's certainly is much more expensive.

I actually dont know anything about this PS, but it has to be better than the Asus ROG with 5700G/ RTX3060. That thing was ridiculously loud.

Honestly I wouldn't even trust this thing with an i3 system with no GPU. Any power supply that doesn't even meet the 80+ Bronze spec is basically a time bomb and glorified e-waste.

How are psus time-bombs? No company would make those. The liability would be insane.

There are over 20,000 4.5 star (avg) reviews on this psu. EVGA makes the same type of psu, so...

Don't be elitist.

This is true but the lower quality units can only supply power consistently much lower than their ratings. Like this unit is probably only reliable for up to 300watts or so.

Looks like it has 37.5 amps on the 12v rail.

I got mine delivered today and that does indeed appear to be the correct listing. A pretty budget power supply but about what you'd expect for $12 new. I certainly wouldn't try to run an i9 or Ryzen 9 series CPU and a 4080 on it but something like a Ryzen 5 or i3 a 4060 type card in it should be fine.
