I have no idea why anyone would say the cushions are flat. Perhaps they didn't let it expand for 24 hrs like the instructions say? Were I someone else right now I would be calling me a shill and that's fair, but honestly I have no complaints about that footrest I linked and believe me I am picky.
I am 190 lbs and it holds my legs/feet pretty good.
