A palm nailer can use regular nails. It drives the nails in by a lot of minor impacts. It basically feels like you are pushing the nail in to the wood with minimal effort. The ones I've used, pneumatic only, do vibrate your hand but nothing too bad.
Been eyeing this for a while. I have a pneumatic palm nailer now and it's been great for framing hangers or nailing in tight places (think deck framing where beams/joists can be as close as 12"). It's also a time and energy saver when doing a lot of nailing, and as someone who struggles with hammer accuracy I appreciate that this tool eliminates risk of smashing fingers when holding a nail.
That said, some things to note:
These things are LOUD, percussive tools that will drive your neighbors nuts if you use them early/late in the day.
This M12 nailer is probably double the size of a comparable pneumatic nailer. No hose of course, but it could limit some of the benefits in tight spaces.
I personally don't need the charger/battery or storage bag. My price point for buying tool-only or hackable will be <$80. If you need or want the extras here, this is probably a good deal.

If I already have a framing nailer and a finish nailer is there any benefit to having one of these? Just trying to talk myself out of buying another Milwaukee tool 😂

If you're installing joist hangers then this is super valuable.
Just installed two LVLs and used one and it is THE solution for nailing hangers.
Honestly not sure where else you would need it though.

I bought one a year ago (same deal as here), and have never used it. I had a pneumatic palm nailer before I went cordless, but that the M12 one is considerably larger, detracting from one of the main benefits which is getting in tight places. In this regard, a benefit of a palm nailer is you can get it in places where you can't easily swing a hammer, but, this is marginal based on the length of the tool. Similarly, there are still potential situations when this will fit but a framing nailer will not, but they may be few and far between. The other use I had for the pneumatic palm nailer was joist hangers (since I don't trust my consistency with a framing nailer). The M12 would work in that situation but last time I installed joist hangers, I used structural screws, so I didn't use it anyway.
Therefore, I would say that unless you run into a lot of situation where 1) you can't get your framing nailer in (and you end up using a hammer on its side), 2) you are regularly installing joist hangers with nails, and or 3) you just ike to populate your tool wall with team red, then I probably wouldn't bother.
