My kids had this. All the accessories fall out immediately (stamps, pens), which means they get lost quickly. Frankly the LCD-based ones are simply superior in every sense, and I'd recommend those instead.

LCD-based ones are smaller (thickness, thinner boarders, etc), lighter, similarly priced ($10~), larger drawing area, and you can use your fingernail to write on them. While they do have a coin-battery in them, that is only used for the "clear" button rather than constantly, so it lasts for years (7+ years on ones I've purchased). Magna Doodle was cute back when, but while I own one that's only because I didn't know any better; I wouldn't buy one in 2023.

If you get any drawing tablet make sure the pen has a lanyard included to attach it to the screen. Just look up "10 Inch lcd drawing tablet" and buy the one with good reviews that has a lanyard.

The iPads of our childhood. Didn't know they still made these. Cool!

Guess I can't make this comment, getting down voted lol.

I'm buying two for some presents

I ended up getting the Lakeshore Learning version for my kids a few years ago. It appears to be sturdier and the stylus is attached, which I like. It costs a bit more and doesn't come with the circles. Just my two cents.

Can you recommend an LCD one? All of them look cheap.

I prefer the magna doodle to comparably priced LCD tablet for a young child (2-3) personally. The stamps are easy to lose but they definitely don't just fall out, and the pen has a string on it

Good deal. These were a lot of fun when I was a kid. If you are expecting to give as Christmas gift it says it will come after.

After doing way too much research on this type of product, I concluded that they break even more easily than the ones from the 90s. Many reviewers point to how flimsy these are made nowadays. After all of my research, I went with Lakeshore Learning and am very satisfied. They hold up well to abuse from kiddos. Lakeshore sometimes has sales and even bogo free deals.

My 4yos can't do the LCD ones because they'll break it instantaneously. They went through maybe most magnetic drawing boards on Amazon, and this is the only one that's been holding up well from dropping, being stomped on, and frustrated force. Also it doesn't emit smell and small dust like blackboard and whiteboard does. Funny that someone else mentioned everything falls from the board, while ours have stay on pretty good. Thanks OP! I bought a couple more for back ups or toy drive.

Beware: LCD screens contain mercury. Plus, when your kid throw it, slams it, or steps on the screen, it's toast.

LCD writing pads contain no backlights, and even LCDs that contain backlights no longer use CCFL but rather LEDs (because they're cheaper AND mercury free). Therefore, no, they absolutely do not contain mercury and your information is like ten years out of date anyway. No modern LCD contains mercury, even cheap/Chinese-no-brand ones.

But, yes, if you break a writing pad, it is broken. That's great insight!
