"In general, lead is not used to make cast iron cookware. The reason for this is that lead has a much lower melting pot than iron. Iron melts at 1,535° C while lead melts at 327.5 °C. If lead was present it would boil away before it was cast in the same way the alcohol boils away when you cook with wine."

Hate it when people that don't know what they're talking about try to make it seem like they know everything.
Any lead would boil off during the casting, furthermore lead is more expensive than iron, so why would any company purposely put lead in their pans? I have several CI pans and one of my favorite is an Ozark Trail 8" I got from Walmart. It's made in China but I've been using it for 3 years now. No it's not as nice as my Griswold, but it's perfect for a quick frozen burger or 2 eggs. It's extremely easy to wash because it's so light.
