I heard and read that the Triumph 20 was a step backwards. Not worth buying imo.

I got a pair last year. This is one of the best shoes I have owned. Great deal.

In what ways was it a step backwards from the 19s?

I don't understand the high-sole running shoes. Are they for heel strike?

And site is currently down for maintenance. 🫤

Edit: 1h later and site still down.

Went from an 8mm drop to a 10mm drop. No good. More for walking than running. Also midsole is too squishy and kind of unstable when running at pace and in corners. Triumph 19, ride 15/16 or endorphin shift 3 are great options. At a slightly higher price, the speed 3 is also a fantastic shoe.

The increase in heel drop was truly bizarre and out of step with the industry. A high drop is even worse for walking than for running. When each foot fall begins with the heel it's better to have a 4-6mm drop.

I have a pair of the Triumph 19. They're meh. Upper is cheaply made. The heel feels higher than 8mm because there's not much of a rocker shape to the heel geometry. I don't like the midsole either. Too dense.

New Balance 1080 and More series is probably the best in this so-called 'athlesiure' category.

My view is that Saucony is currently in a rut and is being led by incompetent executives. The Endorphin Speed 2 was their last winner.

Goes to show how personal shoes are—I have the Triumph 20 and like it quite a bit. I think I have 300ish miles on it this season so far. I pair it with the NB 1080 for my slower runs (around 8-11 minute pace) and use the Speeds/Elites for racing. I like the combo, though some friends who work at running stores and are in my running group say the 21 was a nice improvement.

Couldn't agree with you more about the Speed 3. Love mine. But I have not liked the Shift line at all so far, though I have not tried the 3.

I like it for my easy runs. I run between 8-11 minute miles during my easy runs (though I have used these for faster stuff in a pinch. It's always a nice confidence booster to get a faster workout done in such a cushioned shoe). The NB 1080 is a good shoe to look at for slower stuff as well.

I have the 20s and wear them for 8+ mile runs, including up to a half marathon race (1:50 finish).

They're high cushioned without feeling too marshmallowy like most other high cushioned shoes I tried. Good secure lockdown but not snug.
